Thigh chafing

With the current heatwave, I ditched the trousers and wearing shorts a lot and sometimes skirts.

I find my shorts are riding up a lot. When I wear a skirt, I use a chafing gel and rub it in between my thighs. I found on Friday night walkt home, I had to keep tucking my skirt in better my legs for comfort. I reapplied the gel in the bathroom of the pub before leaving but it wasn't enough.

I find my thighs are tender now. Not sore, it's definitely been worse before.

I found something online called bandalettes and they are made just for this problem. It's a material band for wearing on your thighs.

Here they are on Amazon

www.<a class="break-all" href="https://amazon.co.uk/Bandelettes-Elastic-Prevent-Rubbing-Chafing/dp/B071SG24GW/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?keywords=bandalettes&pi=SL140_SX121_CR0%2C0%2C121%2C140&ie=UTF8&qid=1530436666&sr=8-1&tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-am-i-being-unreasonable-3293698-Thigh-chafing" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">amazon.co.uk/Bandelettes-Elastic-Prevent-Rubbing-Chafing/dp/B071SG24GW/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1530436666&sr=8-1&pi=SL140_SX121_CR0,0,121,140&keywords=bandalettes

They are priced at 20 pounds.

I'm going away on holidays soon and I'm thinking I'm going to need 2/3 pairs of these to alternate every day and handwash and dry. Going in for two or three of them will be expensive.

If you have a look at the material used for these, it's says nylon and silicone. This wout be the same as hold ups. I'm thinking about getting some packets of hold ups instead and cutting off the tights. I wonder would that work? I don't have any hold ups here to practice on.
From looking online, the top band of hold ups look thinner than the bandalettes. There's only a small area on my thighs where the chafing is an issue anyways.

What do you think?

@bwrose the bands already exist. They’re called bandolettes. I ordered some the other day after reading good reviews.

this one works for me

BWrose · 01/07/2018 22:16

I love culottes but I couldn't find anything to my liking while browsing online. I would prefer knee length culottes but so far from what I've seen many are three quarter length or trouser culottes.

Body glide changed my life in this regard! It’s roll on, not gel. Give it a go.

Breakfastofmilk · 01/07/2018 22:18

Another vote for body glide. I have this stuff and it works wonders, no trouble at all and lasts all day:

Search mega babe beauty on google - founded by a mother who I can only assume was sick of products not working for her and people swear by her stuff for deodorant, boob sweat and anti chaffing x

Haven’t RTFT but I found Hustle Butter (from tattoo shops) to be brilliant, it’s designed to heal but let skin breathe. Superdrug sell something similar called Tattoo Goo or try bepanthen.

I’ve got slip culottes from M and S, they look hilarious at first glance but I have shortened them a bit and they are great under dresses - just like a slip but culottes. Cooler than cycling shorts. Don’t shorten them too much as they do ride up a little.

I found the larnacane only lasted about 10 minutes.

Sounds like body glide is better.

spugzbunny · 01/07/2018 22:46

I wear jockey skimmies. They are amazing and so light weight. I have 3 pairs and just wash by hand if I'm on holiday or it's a heat wave like this. They dry super fast as they are so nice and thin

Suze1621 · 01/07/2018 23:11

Another vote for Bodyglide - originally bought it to prevent chafing from my wetsuit on long outdoor swims - brilliant stuff. It's not sticky when on and a little goes a long way.

Downtheroadfirstonleft · 01/07/2018 23:14

Sports direct LA gear cycle shorts art lightweight, a good length and £5.99 if you want to go the shorts route.

Maelstrop · 01/07/2018 23:16

Liquid talc, Asda.

Imsodonewithshit · 01/07/2018 23:19

I wear anti chaff shorts. from Evans.

Or the deodaramt trick works quite well too.

Noodledoodledoo · 01/07/2018 23:24

I have these but in Nude - are brilliant, did think they would be too warm but not an issue. www.evans.co.uk/en/evuk/product/lingerie-250470/shapewear-250518/black-high-waisted-comfort-shorts-7619462?bi=0&ps=20

I find talc the best. I’m in a hot country and fat. If I use talc daily I don’t get and run.
