Just that really..

OP posts:

Aside from the obvious pisstakes - how do people know that the op's are what they say they are?

@ChipsAndKetchup I was going to start one too 😂

Is getting abit ridiculous now, but no long until all the "Don't read it then" "just hide" it posts come along

littlemissdynamite · 30/06/2018 20:08

Agree. There is an air of smugness about them.

'I know more than you so I will advise you and tell you what to do.........'

They irk me. I guess they are only being friendly, but they just piss me off. Wink

PlantsArePeopleToo · 30/06/2018 20:09

YABVU.

That is all.

SparklyMagpie · 30/06/2018 20:09

X-post 😂😂

tigersox · 30/06/2018 20:09

I kind of want them to fuck off but then I read one and sometimes I get interested...

It just sounds a bit pompous though to start but hey I may start one myself one day Grin

LilMadAgain · 30/06/2018 20:11

You're wrong. And an insensitive boot. A funeral director was nice enough to answer all my questions about the after death process, I found my father decomposing aged 52 and tbh the last 9 months have been unbearable. I was ready to take all my meds and join him Smile you understand absolutely nothing.

redfairy · 30/06/2018 20:12

Well I think they are interesting (although I doubt my 'I'm a library assistant- ask me anything' would make for a riveting read)

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 30/06/2018 20:12

I have enjoyed them,it’s an insight into jobs I know nothing about

flippyfloppyflower · 30/06/2018 20:16

I agree this should be banned altogether. They are just boring and how we know what the OP actually does - we only have their say so.
I have visions of the pole dancer one actually being a pervy middle aged man in his underwear.

If folk are actually that interested they can do their own independent research.

flippyfloppyflower · 30/06/2018 20:21

LilMadAgain firstly I am truly sorry for your loss.

I remember the Undertaker one and whilst I really do not want to add to anyone's pain some of the information given was questionable. And I say that as someone with two funeral directors in the family.

LilMadAgain · 30/06/2018 20:22

flippyfloppy I spent many hours googling the honest experiences of a funeral director but I found nothing that came close to the awful hell I went through. It's not always as simple as 'Google it'.

GahWhatever · 30/06/2018 20:22

The original ones were about interesting stuff. The jokey ones are more annoying. The crem tech one was fascinating.

NoNotheresnolyrics · 30/06/2018 20:23

Agreed. Self obsessed wank fodder

youwouldthink · 30/06/2018 20:24

YANBU

WorraLiberty · 30/06/2018 20:24

YANBU

I always think it makes an OP sound quite up their own arse, even if they're not.

There's just something arrogant about assuming people are going to be interested in them and their answers.

Oldagepensioner · 30/06/2018 20:25

If you don’t like them ignore them. I’m finding them interesting especially the lesbian one and the midwife one.

Ryder63 · 30/06/2018 20:27

@FizzyGreenWater

Why not?

Soweeee Grin

flippyfloppyflower · 30/06/2018 20:28

LilMadAgain I know you are hurting but where did I say "goggle it"? I did not even imply that = I said do your own research i.e. ask a Funeral Director in person - the ones I know (and I know a few) would happily chat to you in person.

And just to point out I have lost close family members (including children) so I understand the pain of grief but some trucking up saying I am a Funeral Director without proof of who they are could be dangerous

Donotbequotingmeinbold · 30/06/2018 20:29

Ynbu. Ripping the arse out of a joke that wasn't funny in the first place has really ruined the Active thread section of Mumsnet tonight.

The God one is good. Obviously.

WorraLiberty · 30/06/2018 20:31

I completely agree flippy.

Anyone can claim to be anything on the internet and if someone is already hurting, the potential to cause them further hurt or worse is huge.

PlantsArePeopleToo · 30/06/2018 20:31

The God one is gold IMO.

To each their own and all that.
