Can I justify this take away?

So DH is away for the weekend (happens rather less than once in a blue moon). He hates chinese food so if we have takeaway (very rare treat) then we get Indian. Tonight though I promised myself a chinese takeaway.

I’ve just found out that their minimum spend for delivery is £17! It’s only for me (toddler DCs have already eaten...). So do I: a) abandon my plans and have something else, b) put kids in the buggy in their PJs and take them with me to collect, or c) say sod it and order in a feast just for me? (and ignore the fact I’m suposed to be on a diet?)

WWYD?

Another saying order it. You now have a lot of people depending on you for a vicarious takeaway. Do not disappoint us.

GahWhatever · 30/06/2018 19:50

Order what you want to eat for tonight and top up the order with things you like that can be frozen/can be eaten for your and DCs lunch tomorrow.

It's a rare opportunity to have a Chinese takeaway which you really like so go for it.

DonutCone · 30/06/2018 19:55

No question. Eat, eat and eat some more. I'm drooling just thinking about it tbh.

HowsAnnie25 · 30/06/2018 19:56

Order the feast! £17 wouldn't get loads and loads from any of the Chinese takeaways here to be honest!

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 30/06/2018 20:33

You are on a diet ! Don’t Smile

Currywurstmitpommes · 30/06/2018 20:35

belch!

Can I justify this take away?

Order Chinese freeze leftovers in portions. It freezes well

WorraLiberty · 30/06/2018 20:43

I wouldn't walked to pick it up

17 quid is a piss take

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 30/06/2018 20:44

Grin YABU for having red wine with Chinese though.

Ontheboardwalk · 30/06/2018 21:11

Nice! I want some now

Aeroflotgirl · 30/06/2018 21:13

Looks yummy, feeling hungry now, despite having an erm sandwich for dinner, and lasagna for lunch [yum].

MyKingdomForBrie · 30/06/2018 21:15

Jealous!!!

Banana8080 · 30/06/2018 21:17

Go for it

Ontheboardwalk · 30/06/2018 22:29

I can never eat takeaway the day after but love a bit of everything from the Chinese takeaway.

What sort of food can I save for breakfast? I’m wary of rice and stuff

GahWhatever · 30/06/2018 23:01

Yay! Well done OP. Looks lovely. Enjoy the leftovers with Dc for lunch tomorrow. Grin

grossssssss · 30/06/2018 23:03

I've not even read your opening post but going solely off the title, takeaways can ALWAYS be justified! Grin

argumentativefeminist · 30/06/2018 23:06

Heck yeah OP, I was worried you were going to cave to the anti-takeaway brigade. Hope it was lovely. 💕

CheshireChat · 30/06/2018 23:08

Aaagh, I fancy Chinese now and it's your fault!

ILikeyourHairyHands · 01/07/2018 02:37

Winner!

dudsville · 01/07/2018 03:28

Thanks a lot OP. I was too hot to eat dinner last night. Just got up to have a bowl of cereal and am reading your thread. Mmm. Fecking cereal. (Was it good? !)

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 01/07/2018 04:06

Glad you enjoyed it!

But honestly, do we get fleeced where we are?? £17 is nothing and could not be described as a feast. It’s 1 half duck. Or one curry, 1 rice and 1 side... Chinese takeaway usually comes to more than double that for four adults.Confused

BarbaraofSevillle · 01/07/2018 06:12

To me, you are getting fleeced Mary. At our Chinese, 1curry, 1 rice and a side would cost about £7 and comes in massive portions so that would do 2 meals for most people.

What sort of food can I save for breakfast? I’m wary of rice and stuff

Chinese is my favourite takeaway and I've had leftover Chinese, including rice and prawns 2 or 3 times a month for the last 25 years and have never had food poisoning.

FurryDice · 01/07/2018 06:19

A quarter of crispy duck costs approx £8.50 across the board, so no I don’t think the OP got fleeced.

Mmm, I could do go for a Chinese takeaway right now.

FurryDice · 01/07/2018 06:21

Although I would say, a minimum spend of £17 is taking the piss.

BarbaraofSevillle · 01/07/2018 07:09

It will be their way of not doing delivery when it isn't worth their while to do so.

If they are doing deliveries for a single meal, it will be losing them money, so they'd rather not bother and only do delivery if it's a relatively big order.
