Can I justify this take away?

So DH is away for the weekend (happens rather less than once in a blue moon). He hates chinese food so if we have takeaway (very rare treat) then we get Indian. Tonight though I promised myself a chinese takeaway.

I’ve just found out that their minimum spend for delivery is £17! It’s only for me (toddler DCs have already eaten...). So do I: a) abandon my plans and have something else, b) put kids in the buggy in their PJs and take them with me to collect, or c) say sod it and order in a feast just for me? (and ignore the fact I’m suposed to be on a diet?)

WWYD?

Order it, and enough for tomorrow! My local has a £23 minimum order unless you go in there. It's too far to walk so if we get Chinese it's at least 2 days worth!

AnElderlyLadyOfMediumHeight · 30/06/2018 19:11

Order it, eat the leftovers the next day or two (be careful about reheating any rice, though).

SoddingUnicorns · 30/06/2018 19:13

Order it! One of my favourite bits of when DP is away for work is something I really fancy to eat and to flub out eating a takeaway and watching telly on my own!

Pebblespony · 30/06/2018 19:13

Go for it!

Yogagirl123 · 30/06/2018 19:16

Do it OP, life is very short, enjoy yr feast!

KitKat1985 · 30/06/2018 19:19

FEAST FEAST FEAST!

Get kids in beds first before you order so you can properly enjoy it and don't have to share. Grin

sparklyllama · 30/06/2018 19:20

Another one who is now gagging for a Chinese. Teenage DD has abandoned me. I might just do it; that'll learn her.

BlooBagoo · 30/06/2018 19:23

I thought an £8 minimum at one of ours was bad enough (typically most meals with rice come in at around £7.50 max so I think that's why they set it there).

Definitely get crispy duck, having a munchy box from our local one tonight, if they do anything like that then they're usually pricier but have all the yummy appetisers together.

PattiStanger · 30/06/2018 19:23

It depends on how serious you are about losing weight.

Won't you regret the food and the money in the morning?

SeriousSimon · 30/06/2018 19:24

Op freeze it if you don't want too much to waste.

Friends of ours run a Chinese takeaway...every time we visit we bring a couple of pork in black beans back and stick them in the freezer. Just make sure you heat it really well when you eat it.

Pebblespony · 30/06/2018 19:25

I love The sound of a munchy box.

Frogletmamma · 30/06/2018 19:26

Get 1/2 a crispy duck and eat in wraps tomorrow

MorrisDancingViv · 30/06/2018 19:26

I always order a takeaway when DP works away. Minimum spend at my favourite place is £20, but that's enough food to do dinner for me and lunch for me and dd3 the next day.

Lana1234 · 30/06/2018 19:28

Starter, meal and duck plus maybe some soft drinks and you’ll be at £17 no problem. I know it’s not soup weather but I really want a chicken sweet corn soup now with prawn crackers 😩

Vandree · 30/06/2018 19:29

I love when DH works away and I get take away just for me, its food I want and I don't have to share. Plus I get enough so there is chinese for breakfast and lunch too, but then I am really greedy.

Buy the feast and enjoy it, sure it wont go to waste.

UnderBlue · 30/06/2018 19:30

Get it delivered! Life is too short and you deserve a treat :)

formerbabe · 30/06/2018 19:31

Buy yourself something online that's non food related with the money...top, summer dress, make up etc...you'll feel better about yourself and have something lovely arriving in the post soon.

AnElderlyLadyOfMediumHeight · 30/06/2018 19:34

formerbabe, why should OP feel bad about herself for ordering food?

The sooner we (in general) manage to divorce food from morality, especially for women, the better (and the easier I think people will find it to lose weight).

Birdsgottafly · 30/06/2018 19:34

Are you on a diet or not?

If so collect it, you'll overeat and undo what you've managed to achieve.

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 30/06/2018 19:36

Now I want Chinese

Deffo order and have lunch leftovers tomorow with kids saves thinking about lunch

CleverQuacks · 30/06/2018 19:37

This is the worst thing about being newly single! I can’t justify a takeaway anymore because you have to order huge amounts of food to meet their minimum delivery.

SoddingUnicorns · 30/06/2018 19:39

Why does OP have to consider her diet? It’s HER diet, if she wants to break it for a night it’s up to HER!

formerbabe · 30/06/2018 19:39

formerbabe, why should OP feel bad about herself for ordering food?

Because it's a lot of money for something which doesn't last long...plus, she herself said she's on a diet.

NorksAreMessy · 30/06/2018 19:40

Pineapple
Fritters

Mmmmmmmmmmmm

Iwantaunicorn · 30/06/2018 19:45

Get it delivered, bonus of having dinner all ready for tomorrow, or something tasty as a treat in the freezer.

I reeeeeeeeally want Chinese now!
