Was your daughter on a school trip at Alton towers today?

Was she late for her bus? did the teacher lose his rag at her in the middle of the entrance area? If so is she ok?

Can’t believe what I saw today, two girls were 20 mins late back, yes they should be in trouble but they did not deserve some teacher screaming at them, I was 75 metres away and could hear everything I felt so sorry for the girls. I was in a queue and I wasn’t talking about it to the other people in the queue, I was about to go over, but another teacher did.

Would love the name of the school to make a complaint to. Heat is not an excuse, I have lived in hot countries and never saw a teacher lose it like he did.

I know it’s not Aibu but posted here for traffic....

...the teachers involved will have volunteered for this and due to the behaviour of the two girls...

...teenagers pull this sort of stuff all the time, they always have done and always will.

If this is widely known, then (1) why would any teacher ever volunteer, and (2) why are teachers so disgusted by it that they would never volunteer again?

I agree with you that this behaviour is par for the course, btw. I am also a veteran of many a school trip...
Where we diverge is the assertion that a teacher might reasonably be so horror stricken at it that they lose their shit, or that there is a valid context to what the OP witnessed.

A teacher who was up to ninety with terror about two student no-shows at the bus shouldn't have been on the trip. A teacher with experience and common sense would have handled the situation better. In fact, I strongly suspect that a teacher (the second one) with experience and common sense did handle the situation better.

QueenoftheSilverDollar12 · 29/06/2018 22:03

@LuluJakey1 very well said.
@Zzz1234 it was none of your bloody business. I'm a veteran of many school trips and the kids no I take no shit already. If any teenager had rocked up twenty minutes late on my watch, they'd have got a bollocking too. And of some random member of the public had come up and interfered then they'd have been politely told to get tae actual fuck mind their own business. It may come as a surprise to you that teachers can pretend to be annoyed and not really be losing their shit. This is one of the reasons there is a recruitment crisis in teaching as is the number of parents who are total apologists for the shoddy behaviour of their kids. And I'd bet my bottom dollar you're one of them, even if you think you're not 😃
In short, keep your opinion to yourself in these situations.
If my HT got an email saying that I'd shouted at a kid being late for a bus back home, it would be filed in the bin.
My kids' school had a trip to AT yesterday. We are in the West of Scotland so they left at 2am and returned at midnight. Staff were in school this morning. With no overtime nor time off in lieu. So bugger off. This shit rips my piss.

Thecrabbypatty

It was more to do with the volunteering aspect than anything else.

But I think that there are a lot of posters that don't really understand the pressures of organising school trips for children when you are in charge of them.

and as you say misbehaving on trips for scouts etc. would see them removed from the group.

but then there was a thread on here about an adult who got left behind by his group and some posters believed that they/someone should have stayed with him.

ColoursOfRain · 29/06/2018 22:04

out with 100 kids tomorrow

Of course you are...

And what would happen if the teacher was late to pick their children up after nursery closing? What would happen to their children then?

(Made up scenario, but 20 minutes late has far reaching consequences)

Any teacher who risked cutting it so close that his own children would overstay their welcome at nursery (or any other time-sensitive consideration) would have to be a complete idiot to volunteer for a trip.

School trips are notorious for delays, caused not only by students but also by traffic, by bus company delays and many other things that sensible people take into account before putting their names down.

Masterbuilders Members of the public saw an ambassador of a school behave badly in public.

Their fault. THEIR fault. No one else’s.

Those that can, do
Those that can’t, teach
... and those can’t teach bollock students in public.

Where we differ is that you believe that he lost control, and its not that I believe that teachers don't, just that we have nothing to say that he did and that when he was approached his wind down was instant.

But it is a difference of opinion.

But I think that there are a lot of posters that don't really understand the pressures of organising school trips for children when you are in charge of them.

And yet some manage to do it with professionalism and aplomb.

Zzz1234 · 29/06/2018 22:11

If my HT got an email saying that I'd shouted at a kid being late for a bus back home, it would be filed in the bin- if that’s what the headteacher wants to do fine, but at least they know about it.

Masterbuilders · 29/06/2018 22:11

QWERTY discipline is teaching. You sound like you know the facts. You’re talking as if this is 100% what happened. That’s rather foolish if op had embellished. Especially if she gets him outed like she seems determined to do publically.

If you’ve missed the posts by people who know this alleged teacher, apparently they are well respected? Public witch hunts are a silly game.

Anasnake · 29/06/2018 22:12

'Those who can't, teach' - but I thought all the ones at your dc's school were uber professional ???Hmm

Franklyyes · 29/06/2018 22:12

Wow some nasty responses on here .. can't people just reply normally.

Having to resort to “What if the OP lied?” is a rather pathetic argument lol!

petrolpump28 · 29/06/2018 22:13

Having spoke to DD, I know the school, and the teacher. Said teacher is highly respected by all

Lets hope he or she is ok

ColoursOfRain · 29/06/2018 22:13

Any teacher who risked cutting it so close that his own children would overstay their welcome at nursery (or any other time-sensitive consideration) would have to be a complete idiot to volunteer for a trip.

Then you've never experienced the intense pressure for teachers to take trips. I've seen people managed out because they don't want to go on trips and management have decided they are not 'team players'.

QueenoftheSilverDollar12 · 29/06/2018 22:14

As a respected member of staff, @Zzz1234 and some wee wumman emailed to tell tales on me, you'd make yourself look a bit silly tbh.

Masterbuilders · 29/06/2018 22:14

The stupidity on this thread is outstanding.

shakeyourcaboose · 29/06/2018 22:16

queen are you taking bookings for tickets? Bump up and I'll share my diet bru for some of your popcorn!

Thecrabbypatty · 29/06/2018 22:16

qwertyuiopy for once I agree with you! They saw a student (also an ambassador to the school) behave badly in public (by being selfish and causing disruption to everyone else).

Their fault. THEIR fault. No one else's (and got shouted at as a consequence of their actions).

Teateaandmoretea · 29/06/2018 22:17

OK boney I doubt aristotle mentioned mn, I have clearly misquoted him 😂
