AIBU to have professional treatment done on my 8 year old daughter's hair

Posting for traffic as there's been no response so far on the multicultural families board.
My daughter is dual heritage, European/Caribbean. Her hair is very thick, strong, with tight curls so she finds it hard work to manage. She also finds it tough going having her hair combed for her despite use of deep conditioners and moisturising hair products
I'm thinking of taking her for a professional hair treatment.
Has anyone had experience of
Either

  • Thermal heat treatment
Or
  • Texture Release treatment?
How well do they last? How much easier do they make it to take care of tight curly hair? Are they good value for money? Suitable for a child of that age? Any other suggestions please?? Many TIA

TeaAddict235 thanks so much for those lovely words.
I knew I'd come under fire from some, but I can still respect those opinions. They're just saying it as they see it.
If posting on here helps me get it right for my daughter it will be well worth it. If not, I've not lost anything Smile

I am sorry if I was one that was critical . I have been taken aback by MN in race issues many many time and wrongly assumed it was mega Caucasian at times

Given that a hairdresser is recommending it, I'd consider it. All manufacturers of strong chemical based hair products are compelled by law to state it is not suitable to use on persons under 16. For a hairdresser to go against that, they would invalidate their insurance.

You could always ask to read the ingredients list if you are unsure and/or the manufacturers instructions.

If you're still unsure, braids are cute, just make sure they're not too tight and not left in too long.
