to block someone in on purpose?

This same car parks outside my house every day on the school run. They park on the pavement to the point that she is less than a foot away from my house, I can barely get out of my front door (I had to take my shopping round the back), and people have to either walk around the car or cross the road to get past. I'm fed up. I've parked so close to the back of her car that she can't get out. She knows it's my car as she sees me in it in the mornings and I've spoken to her briefly out of the window sometimes. Waiting for her to knock my door to ask me to move.

I don't mind people parking outside the house. It doesn't bother me in the slightest. But across the whole pavement so I can't get out my front door? DP left a note on her car before but it clearly meant absolutely nothing.

AIBU to have blocked her in to prove a point (that it's not nice when you are denied access due to someone else being selfish)? Or am I too petty for my own good?

I can't see a photo either.

CoraPirbright · 27/06/2018 17:57

Do you really think she might key your car OP? If so, I would drop by the local police station and explain the situation and ask them to clarify the rules on this. Also worth a call to the council - hopefully one of their parking wardens can happen along at an appropriate time....

Confusedbeetle · 27/06/2018 17:57

Ideally but scary you
should try to talk to her in person

Dadsbigsausages · 27/06/2018 17:57

I can see the photo very clearly and she is an idiot! Thats insane to park so close, especially if you and your husband are parked on the road. Why has she felt the need to go up on the pavement so close?

Incredibly stupid woman!

ElderflowerB · 27/06/2018 17:58

Can you see this one?

Nope. Would be getting a camera put up also. Incase she does touch your car.

Grimbles · 27/06/2018 17:59

I can't see any photos

SoupDragon · 27/06/2018 17:59

Are you posting on the App, OP?

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 27/06/2018 18:00

No still can't see it!

You handled yourself well OP. She sounds like a cheeky bugger.

ElderflowerB · 27/06/2018 18:00

@SoupDragon yes I'm using the app. Does it make a difference if I use the web page?

For some reason, photos posted on the App are only visible on the app..

CourtneyLovely · 27/06/2018 18:01

I can see the photo, weird that others can't!

AtiaoftheJulii · 27/06/2018 18:01

I went to the app. That's ridiculously close, hopefully she will think twice next time!

Pratchet · 27/06/2018 18:01

She gave you attitude? What a nerve.

RiotAndAlarum · 27/06/2018 18:02

I can't see the photo, but as you've got one, I agree with PPs that you should chat to your local PCSO or police station about the situation so you've got a ready-made suspect when your car is keyed.

blackteasplease · 27/06/2018 18:02

She has to leave enough room for a wheelchair user to pass I'm sure! I would block her in yes

InterstellarSleepingElla · 27/06/2018 18:02

I would definitely report to non emergency. I ended up not being able to get out of my front door whilst heavily pregnant and on crutches. I could leave via the back door and an alleyway but it pissed me off something chronic.

I had no problems people parking on the road, in fact it was pretty much a requirement so that other vehicles including emergency services could get down the street. However, most people managed to allow residents to get out of their front door. This car got a ticket - would have been far cheaper for them to either park with consideration for others or to round the corner and park in the car park!

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 27/06/2018 18:02

Ah thank you Soup!

Ridiculous woman parking so close!

SirRodneyEffing · 27/06/2018 18:02

You're a better person than I am. I would have pretended not to be in when she rang the doorbell. Cheeky cow

Grimbles · 27/06/2018 18:02

That's ridiculous, who does that Shock

RiotAndAlarum · 27/06/2018 18:03

Thanks for the reposts, @SoupDragon and @AtiaoftheJulii !!

Sprinklesplease · 27/06/2018 18:03

Thanks soupdragon.

Good grief OP, send those pics to the council or police or whoever deals with such things. That’s barring you from entering your home!

SoupDragon · 27/06/2018 18:04

Utterly shit parking.

BlueJava · 27/06/2018 18:04

We live opposite a school and constantly have people parking on the road infront of our house (which I don't mind atall) but will also sometimes park over the driveway. As I have to do a school run myself this can be annoying. There was a BMW that did this regularly and blocked me in until one day I walked over and said breezily "Hi! would you mind moving a bit please? I'm fine with you parking wherever but I'm not good at reversing so maybe I will ding your car a bit.... I'll try not to though". Never seen again! :)
