to block someone in on purpose?

This same car parks outside my house every day on the school run. They park on the pavement to the point that she is less than a foot away from my house, I can barely get out of my front door (I had to take my shopping round the back), and people have to either walk around the car or cross the road to get past. I'm fed up. I've parked so close to the back of her car that she can't get out. She knows it's my car as she sees me in it in the mornings and I've spoken to her briefly out of the window sometimes. Waiting for her to knock my door to ask me to move.

I don't mind people parking outside the house. It doesn't bother me in the slightest. But across the whole pavement so I can't get out my front door? DP left a note on her car before but it clearly meant absolutely nothing.

AIBU to have blocked her in to prove a point (that it's not nice when you are denied access due to someone else being selfish)? Or am I too petty for my own good?

Shame you can’t get out past her car to move yours.

IdLikeABiscuitPlease · 27/06/2018 17:37

Wtf! I'd never park that close to someone's house!!

She's taking the piss.

BewareOfDragons · 27/06/2018 17:38

Take a clear picture of the car and the reg plates and pop it on your local facebook pages ... note the drive does this constantly, and you can't even get in and out of your front door without struggling due to her shitty parking. Ask them to stop. Openly.

There is no expectation of privacy in public ... so post the damn picture.

ElderflowerB · 27/06/2018 17:39

Slightly concerned that she's a mumsnetter now and might read this! Glad I name changed!

I can't see the pic? Confused

ChaosTrulyReigns · 27/06/2018 17:42

Have you got one of these?

Leave it on the pavement outside your house when she's next due to park there. Add a reg plate "TWAT 1"

ChaosTrulyReigns · 27/06/2018 17:42

Oof. Apologies

I can’t see the photo either! Please repost.

Oldraver · 27/06/2018 17:48

I cant see a photo...but I have tried twice to post a photo today and it hasn't posted

Failingat40 · 27/06/2018 17:48

I can see the photos @ElderflowerB

That's horrendously bad, selfish parking of her!! You should phone the police and report she's blocking safe exit from your home in the event of an emergency.

There's no excuse in the world of reason that could ever mean she has to park on that much of the pavement!

Yes to shaming her on social media. Park like a twat type pages, local community pages etc.

Jaxhog · 27/06/2018 17:49

Driving on the pavement is an offence. As is obstructing the pavement. Get (borrow?) a pram or wheelchair and call the police to say you can't get out of your house because of her parked car.

I would warn her first that next time she parks like this, this is what you will do.

I had a lovely 20 mins the other week, watching the police lift a Range Rover from the pavement and take it away. We have a major problem with this.

happypoobum · 27/06/2018 17:49

finchbon have you reposted the photo? I still can't see anything. Can see the car chaos posted Smile

DartmoorDoughnut · 27/06/2018 17:50

I want to see the photo too!

edshearansmistress · 27/06/2018 17:50

I can see the photos. That's bloody ridiculous OP! Did you say you've asked her before not to do it? And also that there is no reason for her to park on the pavement? Hopefully by her having to speak to you tonight so she can get out, you can share her into not doing it again. Make sure you talk about baby bumps, shopping, wheelchair users and people with visual impairments. Total CF!

ElderflowerB · 27/06/2018 17:51

Weird nobody can see it, it's definitely there!!

So she came back and knocked on my door and gave me serious attitude for blocking her in. I moved my car and told her I would continue to block her in if she didn't start parking respectfully and away from my front door. Told her I'm pregnant and will soon have a pram to get in and out every day. Well and truly expecting her to key my car now...

happypoobum · 27/06/2018 17:52

As OP's DP has already left a polite note which was ignored, I would just go out (or pretend to be out) and let her walk home. It's the only way she will change her behaviour.

LittleMissSurrey · 27/06/2018 17:52

Following... I LOVE a good parking thread.

And for the record, OP you are definitely NBU. We live in a house that sounds very similar to yours - where the front door is directly on the pavement, luckily for us we don't live near a school and no one (yet!) has parked up on the pavement... I would be livid if I had that little space to get in/out of my house!!

chocolateworshipper · 27/06/2018 17:53

Parking thread!!

Come on OP - you MUST know the rules by now - diagram, or it didn't happen

ElderflowerB · 27/06/2018 17:53
