especially not if the rider needs to make a billion point turn to park in the front garden.

and surely it's not legal to ride on the pavement?

noisy and inconsiderate bastard.

Rather a Harley than an old man Goldwing.

ElementalHalfLife · 24/06/2018 22:23

Sounds to me like your neighbor is an inconsiderate dick OP, thing is he will probably always continue to be an inconsiderate dick no matter what he drives or rides - to wit: you have a neighbor problem not an HD problem.

deste · 24/06/2018 22:26

We had a neighbour who worked very late into the early hours. She decided it was a good time to take her Harley out of the garage, start it up and run up and down the road a few times.

bluerunningshoes · 24/06/2018 22:26

and tbh I'm pretty pissed off about him riding on the pavement.
the few times I had the misfortune to walk in his way he got pretty arsey.
for once I wish the local gangs would go steal it

Fucking hell. Deal with it!

EnglishGirlApproximately · 24/06/2018 22:27

My lovely new neighbour has an off road bike (which he rides up and down the village without a helmet), which he’s taken to revving inside the garage for an hour every night while his 2 year old runs around the garden screaming - it’s lovely. Hmm He’s also got a vast array of friends with boy racer cars who like to blast music, beef horns and rev engines with their stupid exhaust pipes on an evening. It was so quiet in this little cul de sac until he moved here.

I feel your pain OP, Ds is getting very disturbed street and it’s making us all grumpy.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 24/06/2018 22:28

Disturbed sleep Blush

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 24/06/2018 22:29

Your neighbour is a twat.

egdehsdrawkcab · 24/06/2018 22:30

Same issue has arisen near me in the last week or so.... scarily similar issue. Perhaps we live on the same street. It's woken me up a few times in the last week or so. Can't say I mind too much, each to their own. That said, if you know you keep shift hours or work nights you wouldn't go get the noisiest bike you can find.

MooseBeTimeForSpring · 24/06/2018 22:31

Every other house here has one. I think the local dealership is one of the busiest in North America.

acornsandnuts · 24/06/2018 22:33

So for a total of 5 minutes a neighbour is noisy. Jeez.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 24/06/2018 22:35

5 minutes at 10PM feel very long and noisy indeed.

MariaMadita · 24/06/2018 22:38

He's a bit inconsiderate. (Maybe)but yes, Harleys do 'have a place' in residential (and other...) streets.

Is it still fashionable / 'cool' to tune the exhaust nowadays? Wink

MariaMadita · 24/06/2018 22:39

Also, it's just 10 pm...? Confused

Amanduh · 24/06/2018 22:41

HungerOfThePine · 24/06/2018 22:43

I think yabu but I'm with you on the noise, I'm visibly aggravated when a powerful motorbike or car rips up a road out of no where. The noise goes right through me.

I have neighbours with loud motorbikes and one is one of those beasts with 3 wheels somehow I don't really notice them and or they aren't over egging their engines like over excited teenagers.

HungerOfThePine · 24/06/2018 22:45

Just rtft you neighbour is a twunt

wink1970 · 25/06/2018 10:05

The house up the road is still known by us as the 'Harley House', 15 years after he moved out, as Sundays @ 9.30am he would pull the bike out of the garage, start it up, leave it running for 20 minutes, then put it away again! Every week. It became a standing joke.

But, YABU to an extent. There are noises more grating, and louder, in many residential streets.

Thebluedog · 25/06/2018 10:10

If that’s the only thing you’ve got to moan about you need to get out more (at least this way your neighbour can park his bike in peace)

Haha my super cool 60 something lady neighbour has a loud Harley with NO silencer!!

She is also very glam, men both old & young hang onto her every word, it's not fair!

IIIustriousIyIIlogical · 25/06/2018 10:14

DH considers himself a motorbike aficionado

Is he one of those twats that dresses like a Power Ranger & only goes out on Sunny days??

I bet he's got white boots.......

IIIustriousIyIIlogical · 25/06/2018 10:15

the few times I had the misfortune to walk in his way he got pretty arsey.

Maybe stop walking in his way??

You sound like the arsey one - are you sat there waiting for him to come home at 10pm so you can dive out & stand in front of him??

araiwa · 25/06/2018 10:17

'a classic brand of motorcycle with a well-deserved reputation for excellence, reliability and performance'

Slow, unreliable, expensive and poor handling are the adjectives you needed there!!

The noise is glorious though...

How? the pavement is not wide enough for a pedestrian plus a supersized motorbike.
