He's desperate to get it done and I don't mind supporting Teenagers have a bit of control over their style (within reason).

But I just told my sister who thinks that it's horrific that I'm even considering it.

Would you let your 15 year old son have his ear pierced?

I’m basing this on stereotypes. Surely you know that Confused.

Tracksuit, hoodies, ear piercing/ going around in a big group of boys on bikes etc, goes with the chavvy/rough look stereotype and some people associate kids, who dress like that, must be in some sort of gang related scene.

I think if you don’t know close circles who haven’t experience this, then you are very lucky.

Could be your mistake.

I heard they give away a free knife with each ear piercing now

Terrible offensive to the people who have encountered knife crime (which is a big Issue!). Please don’t make a joke about this.

I think if you’re happy for your daughter to do it then you should let your son do it otherwise it’s double standards. Ear piercings are easily reversable I had 7 when I was a teen but I only use one hole now and you can’t even see the others.

DS1(24) had his done when he was 12. Used to wear a big blingy fake diamond and a tracksuit. Looked totally chavtastic.

Amazingly this has not prevented him from going to uni, getting a good degree and a very good job. Who'd have thought eh?

DDs have all sorts of piercings: noses, eyebrows, tummies, various parts of their ears. Again it doesn't seem to have stopped them going to uni or getting decent internships and part time jobs. Oops tell a lie, DD1 was once asked by a bar agency to remove them to waitress some posh event and decided it wasn't worth the hassle.

My ds same age asked for the same - I said yes without giving it a thought. (And amongst his peers I am seen as a really strict parent), Dd will have her ears pierced at some point once she is a bit older (only just 4).

I did tell him that I wouldn't allow expanders however.

That doesn't make a lot of sense, and you yourself have said you're basing your views on stereotypes! It's pretty inappropriate to do that. I work with several professional people who have piercings, many also have closely shaved heads; they are all pleasant, decent people who I respect, so I wasn't aware of your predjudice against any male with piercings, and nor do I really need to be.

You should really have a bit of a think about justifying judging people on their appearance, by saying you're just treating them as a stereotype - it's pretty unreasonable and unfair Hmm.

He now has a pierced ear!!! He loves it! It's a black stud and actually goes very well with his look.
He told me I am 'a legend' Grin hahahahaha!!!

I would let him. 35 years ago aged 15 l got my left ear pierced after begging my mum for several years to let me have an earring.
It did my self confidence the world of good and my mum now admits it was no big deal even if she thought otherwise at the time. I bet he will love having a pierced ear.
