If he’s fine in himself I’d send him in, warn them he had a high temp and be prepared to have to leave work early if need be.

Took temp because he felt hot. He's 15 months. When he's been ill before it's been VERY obvious and temp has been sky high so 38 something doesn't seem too bad by comparison! Sounds like he's having a Daddy day though!

Personally I’d dose him up with calpol and shove him out of the door, but it isn’t the right thing to do. Nursery may well call you back to pick him up again.

(I should note that I’d never send mine with anything contagious, just normal toddler snuffles).

No. Temperature usually peaks in the afternoon - if its so high now, it might get up as high as 39 later.

When I worked in a nursery, it is incredibly obvious when a child has had calpol. So please don’t do that! We would have sent a child home if they were .5 degrees higher than the highest range, so 37.7. 38+ is a fever

My DD could seem fine as a baby with a temperature, then suddenly be very ill with it. It's a pita I know, but I wouldn't send her

You don't send kids to nursery or school with a temperature.

I'm a childminder and won't accept a child with a temperature over 38. Partly because of the chance of infecting the other mindees but mainly because a child with a high temperature should be in the comfort of their own home.
