I've done something terrible

I just need to get it out there as I'm in tears.

DC2 is 6months old and I haven't taken them for any of their immunisations.

The letters kept coming through and I've kept burying my head in the sand.
After DC1 had his last injections we ended up at the hospital and even though he's fine now and all the symptoms went away on their own in the end no one managed to find out why he reacted like that to them and I'm terrified it will happen to DC2.

I've received a letter today saying I can discuss lack of immunisations with my GP if I wish, I plucked up the courage and called them and the receptionist sounded aghast when I've told her DC2 has not had anything at all.
She's made an appointment for a nurse to call me tomorrow to discuss.

I'm an awful mum aren't I and now I'm worried about what the nurse will say and feel like she'll be angry.

DD1 was rushed into the GP and needed antibiotics to recover from one of her vaccinations.

You can imagine how nervous I was getting DD2 vaccinated, especially as she had all sorts of allergies.

We had absolutely no further problems with vaccinations - they're all strapping teens now and have had all sorts of vaccinations since then.

Hope this might reassure you a little.

Oh heavens, you're not an awful mum at all! I'm hugely pro vaccinations, and even I can see why you're nervous about it! Have a chat with the nurse, but maybe you can stagger them so you don't have them all at once?

Thank you for all the replies, I never got a chance to write back yesterday but they all really meant a lot.
I am a bit calmer today and was ready to get it all in hand, I got my red books ready just in case, made sure I was at home so I wouldn't miss the phone call... but the nurse never called Sad

You aren't awful. I dithered over my twins mmr vaccines as their elder sister had febrile convulsions following hers. I was terrified of the same happening but with worse consequences. I was an emotional mess by the time I got then done but they had no reaction whatsoever and I'm so relieved to have done the right thing. Reactions seem to be pure bad luck and there doesn't seem to be a reason for it. Get them done, though I know it's stressful. Hugs to you xx

don't wait and worry.could you call them.get it sorted.you don't need another worry hanging over you.if this is done it one less weight from the world.
glad your calmer.being a mum is tough.

I'm glad that you feel calmer OP, I would do as kateandme suggested and give them a call to book an appointment yourself. That way you haven't got to worry about waiting for the call and you know that it is in hand. Even if you book it for in a month's time to give you time to get your head round the idea.
