I store them in my phone and make a note on our calendar at home. But then I freak out and worry I've missed it, or have forgotten to put it in.

DS starts school soon and I also change my hours so I need to keep on top of things.

So... what do you do?

Shared family calendar (Google works for us). It's on everyone's devices.

Lucked · 21/06/2018 13:58

I keep it all in my head!

Jeezoh · 21/06/2018 13:58

I use an old fashioned paper diary that everything goes in. It’s got a space for each day of the week on the left and the right is lined paper which I use as a to-do list. Any tasks I’ve not done from the previous week get rolled into the next week (some haven rolled over since January, like booking an opticians appointment!)

It helps keep me organised and everything’s in one place. The trick is to write things down as soon as you find out about them so it’s akways in my handbag.

Appleandmango22 · 21/06/2018 13:59

Put it into my phone and set a reminder for 24 hours before.

Jeezoh and Freudian another Moleskine user here! Paper diary all the way for me. And put things on kitchen family calendar too.

Jeezoh · 21/06/2018 14:03

Yes Freudian. It was expensive but been a real lifesaver. I can put things like “book MOT” into the list for a week or before it’s due rather than only remember the day it’s due!

Mimsy123 · 21/06/2018 14:04

I do the same as Appleandmango22. Unless it’s really urgent and I need to finish work early for something, and then I add it to my phone calendar as a recurring reminder for 3 days before the appointment.

TheHonGalahadThreepwood · 21/06/2018 14:04

Paper diary. Occasionally add an extra reminder to my phone if I'm particularly worried about forgetting.

madmother1 · 21/06/2018 14:04

I can't cope with appointments just on my phone. I need it written on my big home calendar too!! I diarise on my phone with a reminder 24 hours. Then, I have a small piece of paper in my phone wallet and write my appointments to then transfer to the big calendar. It works for me.

cjt110 · 21/06/2018 14:05

Google calendar doesn't work for me. That's what I use on my phone and it fills me with dread. I'd love a little something, yknow, on the homescreen with a view of whats coming up. I always worry I've fogotten something.

I need the diary you all have Scouse Jeezoh and Freudian

I wonder if an academic diary would be good to order now? That way it'd cover me from when DS starts school?

I have a list of each of ds medical teams on a spreadsheet with the date of the next appointment. They are also all on a calendar in the kitchen and all saved in my phone along with any other important dates

Takfujuimoto · 21/06/2018 14:07

One wall in my kitchen is a blackboard with a cubby full of chalk and chalk pens which we use to note down everything.
It's so big you can't not see it iykwim.

I have a paper diary. I’m too old school to use anything electronic. We did try keeping a shared google calendar, but it was more effort inputting appointments, etc from my diary and reminding dh to do his. Now I’m back to just keeping my own diary and I just tell him when he needs to do things and he does the same.

Large calendar on the kitchen wall. If it;s not on the calendar, it's not happening.

I use an app called 2Do which has a calendar and also a great way of using lists. Can set reminders for things so you'll get an alert however far in advance of the appointment. You can sync with others so everything is shared across the family (or as much as you wish to be shared).

Cath2907 · 21/06/2018 14:16

The family calendar is a large one and hung in the kitchen. Everyone writes their appointments in. I also have an outlook one for work and I tend to put anything on there that will mean I need to be out of office for a period of time.
We also have a big chalk board in the kitchen to leave other notes one

mummastripes · 21/06/2018 14:16

I have an old fashioned diary that everything has to go into!

EmmaStone · 21/06/2018 14:18

I ditched the paper diaries (Filofax in my case) for Google years ago and haven't looked back. I love that it has recurring events (no more going through last year's diary and writing things into the new one - birthdays etc; and dental appointments that are booked a year in advance can go straight in). And I make good use of reminders (can set up as many as I want, in either email, SMS or pop up on my phone).

However, I also have a paper to do list for home (and I have a work one as well), and a massive whiteboard in the kitchen - half is split into Mon-Sun and I update weekly as to what's coming up in the coming week (taken from my Google diary), the other half is filled with magnets and any important bits of paper.

The idea with the whiteboard was that it gave everyone some responsibility rather than it all having to be me that remembered everything. We each have a different coloured pen, so can quickly see what each person is doing and when. It works pretty well.

Im so glad I dont put them on my phone as I have currently left my phone at a friends house and wont get it back until tomorrow. Its quite liberating and I cant be addicted to mn as easily.
