New car delivered today - car slowing down outside three times

itsbritneybiatch · 20/06/2018 22:50

Evening all.

Not sure if I'm being paranoid here but:

My lounge faced the street. I got s new car today. New new.

I've seen the same car drive past three times now in three hours. Slowing down outside my house.

If they are going to take the car my guess is they are going to take the car. My concern is that DD and me are alone tonight, partner and DSS both away tonight.

Clearly I'm just going to call police if I see it being stolen. However, in the interest of keeping us safe, would you leave keys downstairs?

I will update in the morning. No one is robbing it tonight. By all accounts it will be at the weekend.

I live in a naice estate. With a few "lads" on the outskirts of said estate. Like five doors down. They are out all night. Keeping watch by making sure their Dealer doesn't block me in.

I am probably being paranoid.
It's probably just the local window cleaner judging windows and who to knock on at.

He's prob feeewmin at me as I have a new one.

I have placed my keys by the front door based on this thread. I drive an old banger that I would pay someone to steal but I have considered wrapping the keys in foil to be safe, however it could be that you, like me, are suffering from late night paranoia

LRDtheFeministDragon · 21/06/2018 00:00

Grin Yep, sorry OP - it's the bend in the road that's suspicious!

I do hope the foil-key-wrappers also have their tin hats for warding off alien signals? Can't be too careful.

sausagerollsontheside · 21/06/2018 05:43

How did you get on all ok?
Go enjoy the new car today!

pinkgirl1234 · 21/06/2018 06:08

Blimey! I shouldn't be fascinated by this thread, but I am!

Hope you're ok biatch (sorry, couldn't resist Grin)

I've got new car envy now.

Eve · 21/06/2018 06:17

I have a tin box for keys - had my car done 3 times now! Not taken, just opened and sesrched.

Live on a new build and we get a raiding party every so often. One car gets taken , lots get searched.

Heavily invested in cctv now.

Empoweredwomenempowerwomem · 21/06/2018 06:18

Morning hope you’re all safe!

Freetogo · 21/06/2018 07:29

Report to base please OP!

Jenasaurus · 21/06/2018 07:42

is your car ok this morning

itsbritneybiatch · 21/06/2018 08:06

Sorry but if a rush. Yep still there was clearly a para!

There has been a few break ins and I think I'm just letting it play on my mind too much.

Good news x

Winegal · 21/06/2018 08:40

Nothing wrong with being vigilant. We had a huge spate of burglaries in my area so reviewed our security; luckily they caught the CF's and locked them up!

disahsterdahling · 21/06/2018 08:48

Don't stop being vigilant though - take your stuff upstairs each night as people have suggested. I might do that myself. When I am on my own I always take my phone upstairs.

Not that anyone would nick either of our cars...one is very old and the "new" one is nearly 4 years old now.

itsbritneybiatch · 21/06/2018 10:12

Yeah I will do. We have a habit of leaving keys in the front door when it's locked. We do this in case of fire and being able to get out quickly.

I will start making sure we leave the van keys in the door or will just get a dedicated leave in the door key.

What does No one is robbing it tonight. By all accounts it will be at the weekend mean?
Has someone warned you in advance that they intend to steal your car? Confused

Octopeppa · 21/06/2018 12:01

What's a para? Confused

itsbritneybiatch · 21/06/2018 12:16

No but we are away at the weekend. Empty house.

Para is feeling paranoid.

OP posts:
Iamagreyhoundhearmeroar · 21/06/2018 14:38

Why are you going away and leaving your car behind if by all accounts (wtf?!) it's going to be stolen? You're starting to sound a bit bloody daft now.
