to hate unisex toilets?

NC for this as a bit embarrassing :(

I drive my sister to hospital every month or so for an eye treatment. Hospital has unisex toilets, and although they're clean, there's so often splashes on the seats, or seats are put up. When they're up, the cover is over the sides so there's a lot of handling involved to get them down again, and often they're wet anyway Hmm

Yesterday the toilet I used had the seat up, and the rim of the bowl was wet. So I decided to hover. I don't know how I managed to do it, must have been bending too far forward, but I got my knickers drenched, and a huge puddle on the floor Blush

I was dancing around, balancing on one leg, trying to get my jeans off without getting them wet as well, tiny room, bouncing off the walls. Knickers were saturated and had to be stuffed into sanitary bin. Pee all over my hands. When I came out of the loo my sister was waiting for me, she became hysterical as well when I told her what happened Grin and pointed out a big wet stain at the bottom of my t-shirt that I hadn't even noticed Blush

AIBU to wish that organisations would just fuck off with their fucking unisex toilets, and let men have banks of urinals where they can piss as they want, up the walls if they feel like it?

YABU. I've been in plenty of ladies' loos where there have been pissy seats - probably due to someone doing the same as you did!! Not to mention the ones that are blocked / overflowing / littered with used tampons etc.

Public loos are rarely great. Carry sanitising wipes and give the seat a quick wipe down before you use it and you won't mind so much.

rosesandflowers1 · 19/06/2018 13:12

I think YABU. If there is droplets on the seat just wipe it with a tissue.

Public toilets are often gross anyway, no matter what. I just grit my teeth and go.

Takfujuimoto · 19/06/2018 13:12

BarbaraofSeville 😂😂

ElMarineroBaila · 19/06/2018 13:18

When you wiped up your own piss, you probably wiped up the piss of about 10 other people. If you'd wiped up the piss at the beginning, you'd have had a lot less piss to clean.

Piss.

Noqont · 19/06/2018 13:20

I fucking hate unisex toilets. They are always dirtier because some men piss on the seat and don't bother to clear it up. And I don't want to clean their piss off the seat before I can use it. Generally female single sex toilets are a lot cleaner. Fact.

velourvoyageur · 19/06/2018 13:48

Noqont how often do you go into the men's loos?
Because I'm saying I go into both, regularly, and there is no discernible difference. Not so 'fact'.

Thisnamechanger · 19/06/2018 13:57

Plenty of piss all over seat/floor in the womens

Yeah I have to agree on this one - it's definitely not just the men! Many, many a time on a Friday night if you're out in pubs in London you accidentally sit on some else's wee on the seat in the ladies - blergh. By 2/3 am girls nightclub toilets are pretty revolting.

Noqont · 19/06/2018 13:57

I do go into the men's loos when the queue for the ladies is too long. Although often they are so minging I return to the ladies queue. So, yes, still fact.

NewGrandad · 19/06/2018 14:33

@Noqont

Yet if a man was to make his way into the ladies..........

Snotgobbler99 · 19/06/2018 15:22

I think blaming it all on men is unfair. I'm male and find that some men's toilets are lovely and others are gross - I think it has more to do with design and cleaning regimes rather than the users themselves. The same goes for unisex ones.
And - I'm sure I'll get flamed for this - but, personally, I find that women's toilets also smell, especially if they aren't cleaned well. The smell is different to men's toilets but like it or not, they do smell. I put it down to either; both men and women become used to their own gender's smell and, therefore, are less likely to remark on it; or, possibly, it's a pheromonal effect (women notice the presence of male smells better than those of other women and vice-versa).

As for lifting the toilet seat. I've never understood this. Why is the act of lowering a toilet seat somehow more appalling than having to lift one? I'm utterly baffled by people who think toilet seats should be left in a specific orientation. I always put them down and wipe them because that's what I've always done. But, as far as I'm concerned, it's as pointless and sexist as raising my hat when addressing a woman outdoors (which I don't do).

Nikephorus · 19/06/2018 15:36

How disgusting to have to wipe pee up with thin toilet paper.
Is the designed function of toilet paper not involving wiping wee then? Have I been missing something? Should I have been making paper aeroplanes instead?

KinkyAfro · 19/06/2018 15:47

I have just been in our new unisex toilets at work to find shit all down the toilet, from the top right down to the toilet bowl. Brushes are provided, why can't people clean up after themselves, I'll wipe a seat down if necessary but I'm not cleaning up someone else's shite

TacoLover · 19/06/2018 15:53

...you are angry that there was piss on the seat yet you were the one who pissed all over the floor? And it's definitely a man that pissed on the seat? I wouldn't be so sure if I were youGrin

CadyHeron · 19/06/2018 15:56

What Oysterbabe said.

AveABanana · 19/06/2018 15:56

It's bad enough we have unisex toilets at home.

AhhhhThatsBass · 19/06/2018 16:00

I'm with you OP. When a man has been in before me, the toilet seat is always up, there's always piss on the seat and it stinks of, well, a urinal. Womens' loos are generally better, in my experience.

Noqont · 19/06/2018 16:02

Yet if a man was to make his way into the ladies..........

Well tbf I've only got bolder with that now that men do make their way into the ladies. Certainly isn't something I would have considered doing previously.

Olddear · 19/06/2018 16:04

Jeez...what a carry on OP!! I'd have wiped the seat tbh. I had to complain I'm M&S about the state of the ladies toilets, every one of the toilets had faeces in them. If I hadn't been desperate, I wouldn't have used them. This was at 8.30am!
I spoke to an assistant on the way out who told me they'd already been cleaned that morning but she'd inform the cleaning staff! She said this happens all the time..nothing to do with men!

BoomBoomsCousin · 19/06/2018 16:19

On average I do not find unisex toilets to be any worse than female only toilets.

Could we have toilets designated for people (like you) who are happy to piss everywhere (for whatever precious excuse they care to make up) and toilets for the rest of us?

tripYouOut · 19/06/2018 16:23

You pissed on yourself and the floor (you don't mention cleaning it up) and somehow you're the oppressed one who deserves pity.

Tell me, who did clean up your stinking puddle?

Notso · 19/06/2018 16:35

This has nothing to do with unisex toilets and everything to do with people who piss everywhere, including you.

lynmilne65 · 19/06/2018 16:40

Sorry 😁😁😁😂

Katjolo · 19/06/2018 16:40

I don't like them either

ComeTheFuck0nBridget · 19/06/2018 16:41

YADNBU. I hate unisex toilets, changing rooms, etc. They're always far more disgusting than the women only ones. And I once caught a man peering over the top of a cubicle too.

lynmilne65 · 19/06/2018 16:41

I am rubbish at hovering, ( and hoovering )Smile
