To be gutted that someone on my street has painted the outside of their house?

I know IABU but still it pisses me off! The street was built in 1880s, two rows of terraces facing one another. They are sandstone and every single one is completely beautiful. The only painting people do is their front doors.

Someone has bought one of them and today ive come home and all the stonework around the door and windows has been painted. Additionally the pattern carved into the stone has been filled in and flattened before painting.

Its so disappointing as its the only street like this for miles its unique and beautiful and old. And now one house sticks out lile a sore thumb.

I know I know its their house etc. Iabu. But im so sad!

People need to get a grip in my opinion. They bought their house and can do with it as they wish. If you lived in a conservation area or the buildings were listed, I'm guessing you'd know. So if they're not, then just look at the house in disdain and get on with your life.

Oh my. Live and let live. Only if they've painted it bright pink or there's a mural of a naked lady would I complain to the council (though probably get a load of stick for disputing it nowadays). What a lovely neighbour you are being to newbies

What a shame.

It would really piss me off. The worst bit is the filling in the old carved pattern.

I moved 6 months ago because of new neighbours. However their horrendous taste was the least of it, the noise was the worst!

If it was a conservation area I'd imagine you'd be aware of it.
