Giving a hole new meaning to 'crack' cocaine bahhahahah

moofolk · 18/06/2018 16:30

@Slartybartfast

How can you read that article and be most shocked at use of the word 'bum'?!

wowfudge · 18/06/2018 16:34

Quite. It probably fits on the page better than a longer word.

MariaMadita · 18/06/2018 16:40

I initially thought the OP's name was slartyfartfast, btw.

It was rather fitting, imo...

Dljlr · 18/06/2018 16:48

Surely it’s rectum?!

Well it won't have done them any good

I'm a miserable cunt having a rotten day but this made me proper howl, thank you Grin

AbsolutelyBeginning · 18/06/2018 16:50

Never understood the American term "rest-room". Who goes into smelly public toilets to "rest"?

Slartybartfast · 18/06/2018 16:51

Agree, the journo has caught my attention!

OP posts:
QuestionableMouse · 18/06/2018 17:17

Rest room is a tweak on retiring room. It's where you would go to refresh yourself.

AlexaAmbidextra · 18/06/2018 18:10

Just seen he’s been given 5 years. Anglia News said he’d hidden the drugs in his body. How very genteel. 😄

Topseyt · 18/06/2018 18:15

AbsolutelyBeginning, neither have I.

Though some members of this family do like to go and read on the toilet. So I guess we could really rename the bathroom or downstairs toilet the reading room!!

Not a public toilet though. I don't really get retirement room either.

ISnappedAndFarted · 18/06/2018 18:20

WHY CAN'T YOU SAY TOILET?

This is really bothering me. Street signs have toilet written on! What is the acceptable alternative word? It obviously isn't shit house, so what is it? *missespointofthread

MariaMadita · 18/06/2018 18:22

Street signs: for people that need to use the public facilities. sniff Wink

Topseyt · 18/06/2018 18:47

Snapped, I was just wondering whether or not I should petition our parish council to exchange the street signage to say "shitter" or "shit house".

SalemBlackCat · 18/06/2018 19:15

TopseyT
And what about piss house? Or does only shit house imply people only shit in them, not pee? Maybe a sign for shit houses and a separate one for piss houses? Can we Wink Grin

SalemBlackCat · 18/06/2018 19:16

Can we... should not have been on the end of that. We need EDIT buttons.

Topseyt · 18/06/2018 20:26

Perhaps Bog would be more of a catch-all term then.

You can shit or piss in a bog.

TheOriginalSource · 18/06/2018 20:36

What do you suggest instead? Arse? Ass? Hole? Or would you prefer posterior?

Sparklyshoes16 · 18/06/2018 20:42

Can some please explain why you can't use the word toilet?

Helmetbymidnight · 18/06/2018 20:44

‘in his body’ Grin

Slartybartfast · 18/06/2018 20:54

I followed the link from the BBC website, the word bum caught my eye

OP posts:
Ohyesiam · 18/06/2018 21:11

Canning Towm obviously hasn’t changed much since I was a student district nurse there.

I shudder when I remember it

liverbird10 · 19/06/2018 00:37

YANBU.

The word should have been "arse".

Slartybartfast · 19/06/2018 07:52

www.gazette-news.co.uk/news/16297286.dealer-james-mamali-hid-46-drug-wraps-in-his-bottom/
same story, different local paper and the journo is actually chastised in the comments section for using the term bottom, accused of Baby Talk.
these journos must have been scratching their heads trying to decide which word to use to describe his actions Grin

OP posts:
MsJinglyJones · 19/06/2018 11:29

I think the proper highbrow news term would be rectum, and that's probably what you would get from the good old BBC.

In fact I've just searched and here we are look - rectum! (Different drug dealer, same phenomenon)

But thanks to dumbing down, some news sources probably don't want to say rectum in case no one knows what that is.

FourFriedChickensDryWhiteToast · 20/06/2018 16:58

no, the drugs were probably between his butt cheeks, which would have made 'rectum' inaccurate...
