To think American Horror Story is the most disappointing pile of shite

Every time the new theme for the season is released I think ooooh that sounds interesting. Then instead of a well planned out storyline that you can get in to, you get something that feels like a write your own adventure. Where every writer adds a new line without seeing the previous one.

Murder house was good.

I couldn't get into asylum I think I watched 2 or 3 then heard about the aliens and Anne Frank which is just daft so didn't bother.

Coven I should have loved, it has witches it has new Orleans Mayfair witches anyone? The way the supreme was only supposed to have more than one power but that got abandoned part way through.

Hotel I could not get past Kathy Bates accent just no. Although the mattress thing was terrifying.

Not seen the rest it's on Netflix up to Ronoake I think I might give that another go.

I thought roanoke was genius! Lulled into a false sense of security by the first few episodes and then really scary. Only series I've not watched was hotel, need to go back to it.

Some were hit or miss for me.
Loved Murder House,Asylum was ok,not seen Coven (should I ??),didn't like Hotel,loved Roanoke,yet to watch Cult.
My absolute favourite was Freak Show,I adored Paul (Mat Fraser - but I do have a slight crush on him!) & Twisty the clown was amazing & of course,Dandy Mott was just a fantastic character.

You have to give asylum another go - the Anne Frank thing isn’t what it seems, and although the alien thing is a bit out there, it’s handled well. There’s so much incredible stuff in that season, it’s really a shame not to watch it.

Coven tbh I wouldn't bother with. Kathy Bates does get to say "Shit" a lot which she seems to relish.
I do like Kathy Bates but not in this it seems.
I'll give Asylum another go and if i get on with it I'll try Ronoake. I forgot freakshow did quite like that one I likes twistys story and Edward mordrakes story. Thought they could have done a bit more with that though

Murder House and Asylum are the best seasons. Definitely go back and watch Asylum, OP, you'll be surprised. I didn't like Coven, found it a bit slow and boring. Freak Show was okay, was the last season I at least semi enjoyed. The characters were great, the plot a bit hit and miss, and I love Jessica Lange but could have done without her singing...
I haven't really enjoyed any since tbh. Ryan Murphy talks the talk every season but they end up a bit lack lustre. Season 8 sounds interesting, although I didn't like Coven I'm intrigued to see where they go with the crossover because Murder House is obviously one of the best. But for the most part, I do agree with you OP! It started strong but has gone downhill.

Also, doesn't everyone have a crush on Evan Peters?

I struggled with series 1 but Jessica Lange always kept me going back. Kathy Bates is excellent although her accent in Hotel was weird. Lady GaGa surprised me with how good she is. Angela Basset is my girl crush
Roanoke was hard going for me at first. My partner bought me the box set of the first six seasons so I will be watching it again. The asylum was the best. Definitely agree the coven was just blah. Nothing really happened. Evan Peters is freaking hot!! And a bloody good actor to boot. I'm hooked I have to say. I will always give it a chance, just for the cast.

Asylum was definitely my favourite, followed by Murder House and Freak Show. I quite like Cult but found Sarah Paulson very irritating in it. Hotel and Coven were ok. Roanoake had some good episodes but it was definitely my least favourite so far

I started watching the very first one the other night but got very confused! Tell me it gets less unintelligible !!

Loved the first 3, the second one so far is the best. Even though I watched them the hotel and roanoake are the most boring ones for me,

Tbf if you find it 'the most disappointing pile of shite' then you must be an idiot to allow yourself to be fooled by the hype seven times.

Personally I enjoyed Murder House, Asylum (best), Freak Show and Cult. Coven and Roanoke were meh for me and didn't enjoy Hotel.

I really enjoyed seasons 1-4 but it hasn't been the same without Jessica Lange. That said, cult wasn't too bad.

Revisiting murder house? Awesome. Revisiting Coven? Hell no.

That sucks. They should have done an asylum / freak show crossover since there are obvious connections.

Freak Shoe and Coven were good, I had to switch Hotel off half way through, same with Roanoake. I agree, such potential for good stories, ruined by awful writing.

Really liked the first one and the Roanoak one. Couldn’t get into hotel or coven. Loved Asylum. Liked the cult one with the lesbian couple and the neighbours killing everyone, not sure it’s called Cult but I always think it is? Anyway I always think one series is very different from the next. Couldn’t get into Freak Show at all.

I mean that you can almost view them like stand alone series except for the same actors.

Ah, I see it is called cult. I think I like the ones that are set in regular modern environments eg normal house (Murder House, Cult) best because that’s just the kind of thing I prefer, rather than the more fantasy or historical type things eg Freak Show. Maybe I’m just simple!

I love AHS. I named my youngest Tate after Evan Peters character in Series 1 🙈.

Hot that’s funny, my second is Evan; not completely after Evan Perers, but it was a factor!

I enjoyed all of the AHS series but liked Freak Show and Asylum in particular. I’m trying to remember who was actually left alive at the end of Coven and Murder House to be able to do a cross over. Not that killing off a character in AHS would necessarily stop Ryan Murphy from resurrecting them!

Angela Bassett as Marie Laveau must be a dead cert for a return - would love to see the Axeman again too.

And then there is The Son of Tate to consider . What do we think the odds are that Evan Peters will be back to play his own son if the character is an adult?
