No. Overpriced and underfunctioning.

greendale17 · 13/06/2018 12:37

I switched to a Dyson 20 years ago and wouldn’t consider anything else.

My friend has a Henry which is awful

ChocDee · 13/06/2018 12:39

Well, the very best Hoover I have had is most definitely the Neato robotic Hoover. Total life changer!!!

We have 4 animals so he has to work bloody hard!!

We have had ours for 6 years and have only now retired him to a smaller part of the house and bought a new even sexier one.

Not only do I not have to do the house work my self but he does a most excellent job of it too!

I bought one for my friend who had just had a baby, and even though I had used her Dyson the day previously on her carpets the Neato picked up SOOOOO much more it was quite frightening.
I guess since we want the job of hovering done quick but the Neato moves slowly and methodically. He remembers the layout of your house and if he does not manage to complete the job on one charge he will return to base to get his buzz before getting right back to it exactly where he left off.

It is absolutely wonderful listening to housework being done without feeling any guilt whatsoever.

You have been told! Grin

I have a cordless dyson v8 and I love it. Our cleaner also loves it, to the extent that she bought one for herself and recommends them to other people she cleans for. So quick and easy to use and fantastic suction on max.

CheeseAndBeans · 13/06/2018 12:44

Love my dyson! We have a V8 wall mounted one. Got rid of old corded one as never used it.
I have 2 small children and love the ease of being able to whip it out and quickly clean up after them. I don’t find the limited time an issue as it’s always on charge and I only have a small 2 bed house that takes no time at all. Not had an issue with suction at all.

I’ve got a 7 year old dyson cinder hoover. Still works fantastically. We had to replace a part 18 months or so ago, which cost about £50 direct through dyson (i called them up & they told me what part I needed, it was easy!). Suction is still great.
My best friend has a Miele & isn’t too happy with it.

peachgreen · 13/06/2018 12:50

My wall-mounted cordless Dyson V7 is one of my favourite household objects. It's brilliant. Lightweight, easy to manoeuvre and great suction. I have an ancient DC07 (from 2001!) which I bought second-hand and it's still going strong, and I use it three or four times a week. Any loss of suction is always down to the filters needing to be cleaned - people forget about the second filter which is often why some find they lose suction.

theressomethingaboutmarie · 13/06/2018 12:51

Another vote for Miele. We had a Dyson and had been happy with it until it died but crikey, it wasn't ever a patch on the Miele.

ALostCause · 13/06/2018 12:56

We have just bought a dyson handheld after having a Henry for years and the difference is immense. The dust and dirt it got out of the carpets and rugs was immense, and made me wonder if Henry did more that move it around!

Ginseng1 · 13/06/2018 13:01

Swear by the miele cat n dog.have one 13 yrs old my Dh sucked hot Ashes up in it last year (grr!) got it fixed but not the same. Bought a Dyson v6. Very disappointed fine n handy (have it on Wall) for whizzing around the kitchen after meals etc but unless on carpet n clogs up so easily total pain. My friend swears by the v8 though!

Branleuse · 13/06/2018 13:02

I really like dysons. I think they're worth it, but I have bought all mine reconditioned

RedHelenB · 13/06/2018 13:04

Love my 6 year old Dyson.

fourandnomore · 13/06/2018 13:07

My dyson is ok as a vacuum cleaner but blocks at the slightest thing and is such a weird shape it's a nightmare to get unblocked. The plastic is so brittle aswell. My mum had two and I hated them too. I had a Miele before and it was amazing. So much better but the plasterer used it to vacuum asbestos containing plaster dust. Never forgiven that and really regret not just buying the same one again.

TSSDNCOP · 13/06/2018 13:45

I went the other way, I had a Miele then went Dyson.

Dyson rocks —James Dyson is still a smug twat though—

blacklister · 13/06/2018 14:11

I had a Dyson Animal that I liked. It was fine. But then it died and I got a Shark Liftaway Pet Hair for half the price of a Dyson and I love it. It's far superior to the Dyson. I'd never go back.

Cablestitch · 13/06/2018 14:16

My cordless Bosch Athlet is miles better than both the corded dyson and cordless dyson we had before.

MereDintofPandiculation · 13/06/2018 14:21

Dyson DC01 is great, easy to change tools, good suction. Doubt whether you can get them now - we bought ours in 1997.

User467 · 13/06/2018 14:26

We've had the same dyson for 12 years and it's still as good as the day we bought it. Two kids, two dogs and a cat and I can't complain. Hose broke a few months ago and I got a replacement no problem from dyson

Doublechocolatetiffin · 13/06/2018 14:52

Absolutely get the cordless Dyson. I have the v8 and would get the v10 if it had existed when I bought mine. It’s brilliant. Plenty of suction and so incredibly easy to use.

I’ve always been pleased with Dysons though and have found their customer service brilliant. We also have an older upright Dyson animal that blew up (well stopped working - something in the motor fried) probably because it’s been used on my building site house for over a year a few years back. Pretty much the entire thing was replaced under warrenty. Good as new 👍🏻
