Ok, might be a bit dull here but I’m cooking spaghetti bolognese and plan to give my DNiece some. Can I put a drop of red wine in it? It’ll be cooked down for about an hour...please be kind, I’m fecking hopeless at this kid thing 😂

Yes it’s fine. Nobody ever got pissed on spag bol!

TaytoAllDay · 12/06/2018 15:35

Yes! My mum has always done this. Delightful :)

Andrewofgg · 12/06/2018 15:53

Set another place . . ,

Enjoy!!

SilverySurfer · 12/06/2018 16:01

Of course you can - in fact it's obligatory Grin

MaMisled · 12/06/2018 16:04

Hell yeah!

Yogagirl123 · 12/06/2018 16:07

I always put red wine in, I love marmite I might follow PP tip too in future.

midnightmisssuki · 12/06/2018 16:10

Yup - we always do it. Tastes lovely....... the alcohol boils off.

Myotherusernameisbest · 12/06/2018 16:29

Yes and its the best bolognaise when it has wine in it! I use alcohol in a fair few recipes and have done since they were all small and none of my lot have ever shown signs of being tipsy afterwards :)

bellsbuss · 12/06/2018 16:46

I always pour a glug of wine, once a mum from school was round whilst I was cooking and was aghast that I would serve it to my children when it had alcohol in

MsJolly · 12/06/2018 16:49

YABU as it supposed to be white wine 🍸

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 12/06/2018 16:49

I think you would be VU not to put red wine in spag bol (or port dregs in gravy for that matter).

TheDishRanAwayWithTheSpoon · 12/06/2018 17:03

If you think what percentage of the sauce a small hold is going to eat anyway, probably adds up to a sip of wine. Some of her alcohol will burn awayn, so it works out at a negligible amount of alcohol. She will be fine

KittyVonCatsworth · 12/06/2018 17:27

I bottled it and gave her spaghetti with tuna and vegetables instead 😂 i just had this horrible thought that she could be allergic or even the smallest bit could have an adverse affect. I’m not overly confident with little uns. We’ve had lots of fun today anyway.

White wine, chocolate, marmite, coffee and balsamic noted for the next Spaghetti Bol though!

Alcohol doesn't burn off?!

Oh dear - my children have been raised on Guinness casseroles, sausage in red wine stews, fish pie with white wine, stroganoff with a dash of brandy...

Oh well, they seem to have survived.

KittyVonCatsworth · 12/06/2018 17:44

Believe me, if she had been my child I would’ve gone for it but I’m slightly nervous around them at that age...she tries to jump off things, is like a bloody rocket when she runs (and changes direction like a course hare), just gets into things that she maybe shouldn’t. I feel bloody exhausted!

CheshireChat that chart looks well dodgy! There's no source given for it either.

Fruitbat1980 · 12/06/2018 18:01

I’m stealing all these for my next slag Bol. I’m just throwing together a sausage casserole, can I bung a can of baked beans in it?? Confused

Fruitbat1980 · 12/06/2018 18:02

Spag! Blush

ScreamingValenta · 12/06/2018 18:08

Yes, definitely Wine.

KittyVonCatsworth · 12/06/2018 18:12

@fruitbat1980 abso-bloody-lutely, sausage and bean casserole 😋😋 I may make that tomorrow night...just need to figure out what booze can go into it now!

OP posts:
Metoodear · 12/06/2018 18:16

Can’t believe you haven’t been doing it already

Fruitbat1980 · 12/06/2018 18:19

Beans are in and a just told hubby to open a bottle of red so I can slosh a bit in too! Thanks ladies!

Echobelly · 12/06/2018 18:24

I always put some wine in mine, even when giving to small kids.

lynmilne65 · 12/06/2018 19:24

Well that's a bummer, am a recovering alcoholic for 34 years and happily consuming food with alcohol assuming it would have burnt off ! ☹️☹️☹️

lynmilne65 · 12/06/2018 19:25

And the correct pasta is???
