To ask what to do with the live mouse I caught?

Caught him in a humane trap with food.

If I put him at the end of the garden he will just come straight back.

But if I release him on the local common, he will not likely survive.

WWYD?

Do you have a car?

I drove mine two miles from my house and released him!

baxterboi · 12/06/2018 09:12

(in the woods)

Ifailed · 12/06/2018 09:14

Leaving aside the obvious question about why you hadn't thought about this before setting the trap, apparently they can travel over a mile to return, so you'll need to release it some distance away - the bottom of the garden would be useless (unless you own a Scottish estate).

SoupDragon · 12/06/2018 09:14

you Realise he has a family living under your kitchen cupboards right?

gamerchick · 12/06/2018 09:15

Take it miles from the house, then it'll die a slow death.

Penance for using a so called humane trap that's really for our benefit.

Next time get some snap traps if you want to be kind.

Kotare · 12/06/2018 09:16

Err, that is a very big looking mouse. Maybe I can't quite get the scale. But mouse poo is tiny......

SparklyMagpie · 12/06/2018 09:17

He's a little chubster isn't he !!

I had mice not long ago but looks like they have moved on after trying to block entrance holes, I can assure you, he won't be the only one

I'd have to take it miles away but majority vote in future is snap traps

Jammycustard · 12/06/2018 09:17

I was thinking that’s a big mouse.

Shambu · 12/06/2018 09:19

He's chubby because he's been eating my food!

He's got very big ears and is rather sweet.

We could drive him to the local common, but I think he will die Sad

Gottokondo · 12/06/2018 09:22

Is it pregnant?

Shambu · 12/06/2018 09:23

I hope not! Shock

mrscloppity · 12/06/2018 09:25

He's very cute!

Gottokondo · 12/06/2018 09:25

Keep it as a pet? If you can't kill it and can't release it I don't know what else to do.

Call it Chubby Checkers Grin

mrscloppity · 12/06/2018 09:26

Sorry, not helpful!

Gottokondo · 12/06/2018 09:26

Or Alphons Almondus

mrscloppity · 12/06/2018 09:26

I second the keeping him!

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 12/06/2018 09:27

It is so cute. If I found a mouse I'd want to keep it as a pet. Sorry not helpful

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 12/06/2018 09:28

I'd call him/her Gus after the adorable chubby mouse in cinderellaGrin

Pannalash · 12/06/2018 09:29

Cute please don't kill it

Stompythedinosaur · 12/06/2018 09:29

It's a wood mouse rather than a house mouse. I would release it a couple of miles from home.

Gottokondo · 12/06/2018 09:29

Woooo free pet! GrinGrinGrin

Stompythedinosaur · 12/06/2018 09:30

Keeping it captive would be cruel, though, I think. Never known a wild animal to adjust well to that.

Enb76 · 12/06/2018 09:30

That looks like a pregnant mouse to me.
