And WTF were they thinking Grin

I've seen it before, but I'd forgotten how utterly appalling it is!

I don't even know where to start.

Carrie has just entered in her tuxedo for the gay wedding scene....

But then Carrie spoils it by running in and dramatically announcing she kissed Aiden!

Charlotte is so awful in the film. She dreamed of having kids through the entire run of the show, then has a breakdown because she gets chocolate on her white skirt. And instead of learning to trust her lovely husband, the nanny just conveniently becomes a lesbian. Because I’m sure there are no other hot women in New York that he could possibly be into.

I don’t even remember Carrie or Miranda in the film because they were so whiny and awful. Samantha was terrible too. Throwing around condoms? Even in the good ole USA that would get people pissed off at you.

The karaoke bit actually made my toes curl.

balljuggla · 11/06/2018 01:00

It's a crock of shite apart from Liza.

Can totally understand why Kim Catrall refused to do another one!

CherryChasingDotMuncher · 11/06/2018 01:06

I agree OP and I can't believe that more wasn't made of the overt racism throughout the film. Especially at the end when all the women throw their burkas off to reveal western fashion underneath (as fucking if!)

CherryChasingDotMuncher · 11/06/2018 01:08

I also loathe the scene where Charlotte - the parent who has no job and a nanny - gets a tiny bit of food on her skirt and hides in the cupboard. It's something they could have made so relatable and it just fell on its arse with Kristen Davies terrible acting

CherryChasingDotMuncher · 11/06/2018 01:21

Kim Cattrall has been vocal about how shit this film is and has unequivocally ruled out another one (to which SJP had a massive temper tantrum claiming they had a great storyline for a third Hmm).

Before SATC2 came out I'd read somewhere that the plot was that Carrie and Big lost all their money in the financial crisis, had to move in with Charlotte and Harry and start again. Now that would have been great, and that's what I expected and when I got to the cinema I remember thinking "what is this shit?"

Also why is there a whole thing at the beginning about Carrie and Big finally "deciding" they won't have kids. She was knocking on the door of 50, that ship has very much sailed 🙄

steff13 · 11/06/2018 01:28

And Big had been married twice before; if he'd wanted kids he'd probably have had them when he wasn't in his mid-50s.

Quantumblue · 11/06/2018 01:45

It was the cultural crassness and outright racism that just gobsmacked me. And Carrie's childishness about Big not wanting to go out.

lostinjapan · 11/06/2018 08:27

Where was the scene where Carrie and Big ‘decided’ not to have kids? I don’t think that was the issue. I think the ‘just you two’ comment had simply made her realise that they’d have to work extra hard to not let their life become static and boring. That was why she freaked out at Big for wanting to stay in and watch TV.

I love the sound of the plot where Carrie and Big lose all their money. It sounds much more interesting. Plus I really missed New York in SATC 2.

And Carrie's childishness about Big not wanting to go out.

Literally just flicked on the telly and that scene was on. What a horrible shower of cunts they all are.

Figgygal · 16/06/2018 12:15

Suffered through most of it last night in itv2 while babysitting oh dear I'd forgotten just how obnoxious Carrie is in the film Big must have been pushing 50 her not far behind he's partied for 30 years leave the guy alone and grow up!!

GunpowderGelatine · 24/06/2018 23:09

I'm just watching this now, mostly due to this thread. What an terrible film, and I don't mean to be awful but (as gorgeous as Kim Cattrall is) I have a very hard time believing a stunning 20-something man would chose to sleep with a 52 year old (who looks 52) over any woman closer to his age. But that always bothered me in the show - Samantha would be shown round an apartment by an estate agent then suddenly starts shagging them. It just wouldn't happen!

Honeyroar · 24/06/2018 23:49

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but they are making a S&TC 3 film. I think that Heidi Klum is playing Samantha. So I imagine that will be even worse, if that's possible.

I used to love it, but I watched some of the old episodes recently and it just annoyed me. Carrie was a stupid, stupid pain in the arse, and SJP is just playing herself. She looks older than she is trying to play the cool city woman newly wed and wondering about children. Can't bear her. I won't be watching the next film.

GunpowderGelatine · 24/06/2018 23:56

I hope that's not true honey! Sound horrific.

I rewatched the full series once on maternity leave and I have a very hard time believing that Carrie wouldn't regularly end up winded in a side alley every night from being such an awful person to everyone she meets, let alone have FOUR adoring friends.

I've got to the part where Carrie tells Big (who went on her night out and just cane home to watch TV) "we have to work on the sparkle for the rest of our lives" Hmm he should have told her to fuck off.poor bloke wanted to watch a bit of TV, what an awful character she is who just expects her men to be dancing around HER needs 24/7 (yes I know it's just a TV show)

GunpowderGelatine · 24/06/2018 23:56

Also how has Charlotte not ditched her friends yet when they look at her children like they're a bad smell coming in the room?
