Can i breast feed my DD-to-be if i'm vegan?

Recently turned to a full vegan diet and it suddenly dawned on me that it can't possibly be vegan to breast feed my baby when she is born in November? How did i not know/realise this?

Thanks for all the (helpful) responses. I just panicked as i'm not hugely keen on BF and often feel like i'm a caged animal! Does this make BF wrong? Not sure if hormones are sending me bonkers

Yep as a vegan you absolutely shouldn't feed your baby any milk at all. Let us know how that goes down with social services won't you?

Why do you feel liked a caged animal? having a baby is quite animal like but we are mammals aren't we?You don't have to breast feed but I strongly recommend it if you can.

Breastfeeding does not make you not vegan.
But you do know that you need to feed a baby milk of SOME kind, don’t you? And that none of them will be vegan?

And, while we’re at it, imposing a vegan diet on a child, once they’re eating solids, is a fucking stupid idea.

I'm ignoring all the ridiculous 'this should be banned' drama llamas and addressing the sensible folk here. As a mammal it just seems weird to feed my child my milk when i wouldn't drink milk from another species.

Why do you even want children if you aren't prepared to give them the best start in life? Breast or formula, it doesn't matter. Why would you actively choose a third best way of feeding your child?
