I’m generally open about food but one thing I can’t stand that DP loves is fishfingers cooked in butter. I’ve never heard of anyone doing this. I agree each to their own and was just wondering if anyone else has this?

Sounds like a lot of palava and quite messy. Nope never heard of this being done before. Take him to the vets. He needs looking at Grin

LittleBearPad Boiled them? Didn't they just disintegrate?

Imstickingwiththisone · 09/06/2018 09:42

The only reason I don't eat fish fingers with the kids is because they're tiny. So I get a Young's chip shop fish on batter yum that's better.

I imagine frying them in butter would make them nicer to be fair.

Oysterbabe · 09/06/2018 09:59

There are few foods that aren't improved with the addition of butter.

CourtneyLovely · 09/06/2018 10:03

White bread, salad cream, marie rose sauce, salad leaves, loads of salt and pepper.

I have food sensory issues and couldn't eat fish fingers if they weren't crispy. I can't decide if frying them in butter would make them more or less crispy?

Also lol @ never having heard of adults eating them. What a thing to try to be snobby about 😂😂😂

Missingstreetlife · 09/06/2018 10:21

Haddock fish fingers mmm

MrsFezziwig · 09/06/2018 10:42

WhatshallIdo I have to inform you that the fish finger sandwich has been an integral part of every self-respecting hipster’s diet for some time now, so you’re well behind the times. See this article

I cooked some in butter last weekend.
It was in a holiday cottage, I was cooking for 18 people, so the oven was full of chicken casserole and there was no oil for frying.
Nobody noticed what I was doing and the child aye it without comment, so must have been OK.
I also pan fried chicken in butter for the fussy adult who doesn't like sauces.
He was accidentally served casserole and sat there passive aggressively scraping Avery molecule of sauce off and wiping the chicken with his napkin, while refusing to allow me to swap his plate for the plain, unseasoned meat he'd demanded and I had cooked while my own meal went cold.
Fish fingers in butter caused me far less annoyance!

DeadGood · 09/06/2018 11:36

PanPanPanPing HostaToFortune ah ok. Yes that might be a buttering too far.

Lucky11111 · 09/06/2018 11:40

Panpan - thank you. That's dinner sorted for tonight! X

RavenLG · 09/06/2018 11:50

I've never heard of adults eating fish fingers.

You'd be horrified of my meal last night then... hamwiches, mini turkey kievs and beans. No fucks given.

bookmum08 · 09/06/2018 12:02

I remember about a decade or so ago there was a cod shortage or something and Birdseye did a temporary fish fingers made from Hoki (?) a fish from New Zealand. Now they were absolutely delish!! I miss them.

Eliza9917 · 09/06/2018 14:40

FFS now I've got to get dressed and go to Waitrose for these fish fingers and dirty white bread.

I'm also going to get some lard and potatoes and make chips, proper ones like we had when I was little.

I've got Heinz beans in the cupboard.

I cant fucking wait 😋😋😋

PanPanPanPing · 09/06/2018 14:54

Lucky11111 and Eliza9917. IIRC, they do both cod and haddock fish fingers. It's part of their Essentials range but they're damn good!!

Furx · 09/06/2018 15:00

DH does this.

Bloody animal.

Ff sandwich is my go to food if I’m feeling pathetic. Or CBA to cook.

He kindly offered to cook me a ffs when I was ill the other day, but fried the ff. dear reader, I barfed. I like mine grilled till slightly charred, for a nice crunch.

ICantCopeAnymore · 09/06/2018 15:03

@RavenLG Hamwidges are my illness comfort food. That cheesy, breadcrumby goodness!

SkinnyForSummer · 09/06/2018 15:10

Fish fingers need to be crisp on the outside, hot and moist but not wet on the inside. Envy < not envy

That is gross. I think you have just put me off fish, fish fingers and anything resembling them for life. YABU for your adjectives used Envy

TheGreatestHo · 09/06/2018 15:18

Yuk!

I can’t even be doing with them deep fried!

In the air fryer they go!

OohAahBird · 09/06/2018 21:04

I now really really want a ff sandwich, but have been really ill and am struggling with plain rice. Am definitely going to try them in butter and am now wondering what they would be like in garlic butter.

DitheringBlidiot · 09/06/2018 21:08

I oven mine, but plenty of people fry them. There’s not much difference between butter and olive oil tbh

bluerunningshoes · 09/06/2018 21:11

pan fried with butter = food of the gods and waistline

DitheringBlidiot · 09/06/2018 21:20

Also, when we make homemade goujons we fry them in butter

IHaveBrilloHair · 09/06/2018 21:21

I cook them in the toaster.
