So came across a link on you tube about free flowing women who refuse to wear sanitary products

Now periods are natural and are not disgusting in the same way having a wee is not disgusting and is natural bodily function

But weeing yourself as a adult and not using a loo would be
Unless your disabled or ill Confused

How can you work this I am not even sure how hygienic it is

Or am I missing something

I think ladies that “free flow” aren’t the ones that suffer with heavy periods tbh. Must the the ones that get a really light flow

Yes I do agree though why would anyone, you are lucky enough to live in a country with san pro products are readily available and from £1.

Racecardriver · 08/06/2018 10:32

Free flowing started out as a joke but some really stupid people have picked it up as an actual thing.

sleepylittlebunnies · 08/06/2018 10:32

I don’t think it would be possible unless you have really light periods. My friend doesn’t use any san pro as she only sees any sign of her period when she goes to the loo.

Do they mean that they use menstrual cups or something?

Metoodear · 08/06/2018 10:33

Warning *
A bit grim viewing

But people clearly don’t believe this is a thing in my view just shows how mad capped it is

It’s bloody uncomfy when I leak or come on in the night and don’t know until morning. Unless theyre sat in the bath all day I can’t believe it’s a real thing.

danci · 08/06/2018 10:34

Does anybody actually do this? I thought it came from a satire some people took too seriously.

danci · 08/06/2018 10:35

Yes, apparently it originated with a 4Chan prank.

SmashedMug · 08/06/2018 10:35

People don't believe it's a thing because it's not. It started as a prank by a well known website and escalated into some women trying to make it a thing. It's still not a thing.

ilovesooty · 08/06/2018 10:37

Am I missing something

Probably.

pigpoglet · 08/06/2018 10:39

They must do a lot of washing 🙄

MyRelationshipIsWeird · 08/06/2018 10:39

Sadly it has become a thing because the original satire (men laughing about how daft feminism was, that some women are so keen to be ‘free’ and shove their womanhood in peoples faces that they’d actually do this) was taken seriously by some people.

As with anything, it gets a bit of internet exposure and people jump on the bandwagon without really knowing anything about it!

If some women are comfortable doing this then I guess anything that destigmatises periods is good, but bleeding all over your own clothes, seats etc is not really on, in the same way you wouldn’t let a cut on your hand drip everywhere. And it has now become a REAL thing to laugh at feminists about, rather than a satire Angry

UnicornMadeOfPinkGlitter · 08/06/2018 10:40

I’ve always wondered the practicality of this. I have assumed that the women
Who practice free flow live in the countryside and don’t work or have to venture off of their land? I can’t imagine going to work on reception or going to court as a lawyer that free flow would be practical. Also how much washing would it create? Or do they not wear underwear but then surely trousers/skirt/dress etc get covered in blood?

Maybe they have a very light flow and don’t pass the clots etc? Am I overthinking this?

UpstartCrow · 08/06/2018 10:40

Its probably best you don't go to 4Chan or 8chan. Not everything they post is real.
And dont watch the ghost or alien videos on YouTube, they arent real either.

danci · 08/06/2018 10:42

Is 8Chan a thing? Like S Club Juniors?

Isadora2007 · 08/06/2018 10:42

What they said- it’s not a thing.

In saying that, periods are not really anyone else’s business. They’re not gross and the fact tax is charged on sanitary products is very annoying. But I don’t really care what anyone else does during their period.

liz70 · 08/06/2018 10:47

The Cosmo article isn't about "free bleeding". It's about testing out various brands of specialist period catching underwear, finding they're all a bit useless, and reverting to using a mooncup, as before.

AvoidingDM · 08/06/2018 10:51

WTF! Who wants blood stains everywhere?
I'd guess even in country's without disposable sanipro, rags would be used. This can't be a thing.

Are the TransWomen going to stain their clothing to be like a real free flowing womenGrin

AbsolutelyBeginning · 08/06/2018 10:55

I think it would attract dogs to you? I'm not joking. That would worry me.

crunchymint · 08/06/2018 10:56

This is a hoax.
BUT in Britain before the 1900's. many poor women did free flow. Most poor people had no underwear and used no sanitary protection. But they were for example working in fields, so it ran into the field. Or sat in straw letting the blood run into the straw.
But remember most women had very few periods. I read an article that estimated poor women had an average of less than 10 periods in a lifetime.

pigmcpigface · 08/06/2018 10:58

"But remember most women had very few periods. I read an article that estimated poor women had an average of less than 10 periods in a lifetime."

Really? Seriously? Was this because of being constantly pregnant, or did people actually bleed less often because of diet etc?
