To buy some nets

So, my vertical blinds in my living room have seen better days and need replacing. AIBU to be considering getting some nets?!

I think they are quite pretty and money being tight they are the cheaper option to cover my two large windows.

What do you think? Will I be made a laughing stock of in our street Grin

Can you not get some off Amazon @SluttyButty ? You can buy the wire with hooks and eyes too on there

I've got non regular sized windows so I'd need made to measure and due to crappy hands I'd need those rods BUT these have caught my eye instead!

I have plain nets, I'm the only one on my street - ALL the neighbors just have tied back curtains so you can see straight in, I find it so strange 🤨

Uvegot2bkidding · 07/06/2018 19:27

Dunelm do a nice selection of voiles

Jamiefraserskilt · 07/06/2018 19:31

We have plain boiled with a slight bobble effect here and there. Not too busy but one step up from plain. Dunelm has some good options

Jamiefraserskilt · 07/06/2018 19:32

Boiled? Fecking predictive text. Voiles darling, voiles!

SluttyButty · 07/06/2018 19:34

😂 Jamie I was wondering if boiled was a type I'd never heard of.

Mouseville65 · 07/06/2018 19:50

I thought you meant 'boiled washed' haha

user1483390742 · 07/06/2018 19:54

How do you pronounce voile? Rhymes with oil or french sounding vwull?! Hmm

BewareOfDragons · 07/06/2018 19:55

I love our vertical blinds downstairs. Smile

Cumberlover76 · 07/06/2018 19:59

i don't like nets but needed something for our lounge as there is footpath by our front garden. i got these voiles from Wilko and they look ok and do a pretty good job plus are cheap.

MikeUniformMike · 07/06/2018 19:59

I say it to rhyme with oil.
I am overlooked and have plain voiles from Wilko. They do tension rods too.

RealityHasALiberalBias · 07/06/2018 20:02

I love nets / lace / voiles / whatever you want to call them. They’re pretty and traditional and I can’t wait to dress my windows with them when my renovation is finished.

So there.

SluttyButty · 07/06/2018 20:14

user yes ver-oil

MikeUniformMike · 07/06/2018 20:14

Me too. Much better than glaring sunlight and nosy pedestrians.
Not keen on blinds or shutters.

SluttyButty · 07/06/2018 20:16

Reality I still really shamefully love my lacy jardinières I had in the 80's 🤔

Motoko · 07/06/2018 20:25

I pronounce it like "foil" but with a v.

Teenagemaw · 07/06/2018 21:35

I got some lovely silvery white voiles from ponden mills. They are bang on trend and not at all old fashioned looking.

LifeBeginsAtGin · 07/06/2018 21:44

I have at admit to having thought about getting them.

I absolutely hate plantation shutters - especially the ones where the hinges don't match up with the frames of windows.

virginwhocantdrive · 07/06/2018 21:49

I've had voiles since forever, i don't like people looking in, we live near a school so get a lot of people passing by.
They aren't like nets they're very pretty in fact. much prefer them over blinds. hate blinds!

BackToTheFuschia7 · 07/06/2018 21:51

I have privacy blinds. They look more modern than nets from the inside.

SluttyButty · 07/06/2018 21:55

@BackToTheFuschia7 can you check my link above, is this what you have? If so do they really work?

TamzinGrey · 07/06/2018 22:01

I have lovely John Lewis voiles - 2 per window on a curtain pole so that I can open and close them as I want. Love them.

BackToTheFuschia7 · 08/06/2018 09:59

@SluttyButty Yes mine are like that and they do work really well. You can’t see through them from outside but they let loads of light through on the inside. I got mine from dunelm and trimmed them to size with a junior hacksaw. Really easy I promise and could save you some money! Ikea also do them.
