V happy with my washing liquid but have never found a softener that I like the smell of, so haven't used any for a while now.

But I miss it, I miss soft t shirts.

So what to buy? I don't like sweet, floral smells. Or anything purporting to be 'cashmere' or 'silk'. Blue and yellow Lenor/Comfort I find a bit overpowering. Nothing fruity - on clothes? Bluergh.

I just want my clothes to smell clean and fresh, and be a little bit softer.

I was just about to say blue lenor - love it. Try using less if it's overpowering?

LapsedHumanist · 07/06/2018 14:47

Co-op yellow one smells sunny.

MyOtherUsernameisaPun · 07/06/2018 14:48

Method do a lovely one. It's pricey but not an overpowering smell and a responsible brand too.

MildlyFedUp · 07/06/2018 14:49

I like the lavender own brand ones from Tesco and Asda. I hate most smells but these are lovely and fresh. I love the smell of my freshly washed bedding or the washing airing in the house now. Smile

Thehop · 07/06/2018 14:49

Blue lenor every time for me

I like the smol posted laundry capsules too

MissMarplesKnitting · 07/06/2018 14:50

Waitrose chamomile and cotton flower.

TeenagersandFurbabies · 07/06/2018 14:50

Comfort pure it's the only fabric softener I can use as the rest all set off my hayfever symptoms. It's fragrance isn't overpowering just nice.

jamoncrumpets · 07/06/2018 14:50

Will check out Method. Happy to go premium because I only use it for me and DH clothes and bedding, as DCs stuff just gets washed in plain non-bio.

Can't deal with blue Lenor.

Lenor Gold Orchid smells absolutely beautiful - I am addicted to the smell

jamoncrumpets · 07/06/2018 14:55

I don't want beautiful smells though. I want v simple clean and fresh.

Comfort blueberry & Jasmine (doesn’t smell fruity)

Roo2012 · 07/06/2018 14:58

I've been using white vinegar for ages. Leaves clothes soft, no smell, just clean and no residue like you get from fabric softeners. Loads cheaper too.

Roomba · 07/06/2018 15:00

I can't abide the blue or yellow Lenor or Comfort ones. The Lenor I es in particular smell so sickly strong and I can't get rid of the smell! My mother washed some of our stuff in the yellow Lenor when we visited. I could still smell it several washes later!

I did quite like the Lenor Ruby Jasmine one so used that for a while, but eventually it began to smell too sickly sweet for me. The white Comfort/Aldi equivalent smells fine and works well. Buy the only one I return to again and again is the Fairy one (original, not the almond milk one). Only bought when on special offer.

mommybear1 · 07/06/2018 15:00

Fairy conditioner- lovely clean fresh smell

jamoncrumpets · 07/06/2018 15:02

Never tried Fairy. Will give it a whiff next time I'm in the supermarket.

Blueberry and jasmine sounds like everything I don't want in a fabric softener, tbh

ichifanny · 07/06/2018 16:06

Comfort pure the white one is lovely

Geekmama · 07/06/2018 16:07

Just uesd white distilled vinegar. It works really well and is very eco friendly. I also use soap nuts.

tshirtsuntan · 07/06/2018 16:10

The Lidl sensitive one smells strong in the bottle but just clean/fresh once used. Especially if line dried.

GlitterRollerSkate · 07/06/2018 16:19

Method Is now unfortunately owned by SC Johnson if you care about those things.

I use fairy or comfort pure for the kids. Smells clean and fresh. I find fairy a stronger scent.

LakieLady · 07/06/2018 16:33

I like the green Lenor. It smells pretty fresh to me.

CaptainCabinets · 07/06/2018 16:56

The Lenor Parfumelle range is my favourite! I think there’s an oceany type one which would probably tick the ‘clean and fresh’ box?

I love florals, though Grin

Meckity1 · 07/06/2018 17:14

Another one recommending white vinegar. It's better for towels than softener

CoodleMoodle · 07/06/2018 17:17

I always like the white ones much more than the yellow/blue. Fairy and Comfort ones are nice but my favourite is the one from Lidl! Been using it for ages and it smells nice whether I'm drying on the line, radiators/airer or tumble dryer.
