I don't even try to follow the Brexit shit as well, because I know I can't do both. I peep at the Westminsterenders threads from behind the sofa occasionally.Shock

I'm incredibly grateful to the people who dip in and out of both, cross-pollinating, because some of the connections are important to keep track of.

ohmymimi · 18/06/2018 23:54

Incredible? In Trumpiverse greed and corruption are the custom of the country, it would be incredible if it were not happening:

@timkmak

'It's incredible that this is happening:

The Commerce Secretary, aware of a coming negative story about his links to a Kremlin-linked firm, shorts the stock and sells after the story publishes'

@mmcintire
Days after I sought comment from Wilbur Ross about his investment in a Kremlin-linked shipping firm, he shorted stock in the company, then sold it after my story with @sashachavkin came out, per @DanAlexander21 (link: goo.gl/Mp5LFq) goo.gl/Mp5LFq

Indeed, and there are Brexit/Trump connections, don’t just mean the social media manipulation etc. The Brexit voters amongst my family/colleagues (in the U.K.), have a lot of positive things to say about Trump and believe that the fake news media are out to get Trump...

"Cruz did what?" was my first reaction, but I guess it's true

From the article:

^Cruz's proposal, according to a release from his office, would require immigrant families detained along the border would remain together "absent aggravated criminal conduct or threat of harm to the children."

It would also require that asylum cases are adjudicated within 14 days, approve new temporary shelters for immigrant families and increase the number of immigrant judges.^

I don't know if there's more than meets the eye here, though.

And he is trying to bring down Merkel.

No doubt at Putin's request. Merkel and Putin have long standing connections and not good ones. She was from the GDR and he spent his formative years as a KGB agent in the GDR. If anyone understands Putin, it's Merkel. We need her right now.

Gumpendorf · 19/06/2018 00:47

Cruz seeing a chance to clean up post Trump? He seems to flip flop between being a rival and a sycophant. This week he's the rival.

mackerella · 19/06/2018 00:57

It's not often I agree with The Mooch Shock (The first sentence, not the second. I think Trump is behind this wholeheartedly, whatever his advisors say.)

Anthony Scaramucci
@Scaramucci
You can’t simultaneously argue that family separation isn’t happening, that it’s being used as a deterrent, that the Bible justifies it and that it’s @TheDemocrats fault. @POTUS is not being served well by his advisors on this issue.

Ann Coulter represents what many of Trump’s base think, unfortunately. Conspiracy. Actors. Deep state. They are illegal anyway, so who cares? This deeply immoral vein of thought contrasts with their supposed evangelical Christian outlook, but it doesn’t trouble them.

She actually did it.

REPUBLICAN Ann Coulter called abused immigrant children torn from their parents arms by Trump: "child actors."

AcrossthePond55 · 19/06/2018 03:01

I just heard that heartbreaking audiotape on Rachel tonight. I was just sickened and enraged at the same time. I'm praying that this is the breaking point. But I doubt it.

Another form of twisting the narrative: Breitbart has an article titled
‘Child Border Crossers Have Higher Standard of Living than 13M Impoverished American Children’. The crux of the article is the apparently, in 2017, each unacommpanied minor (and the Trump administration is claiming the vast majority of children are such), costs the government $34,660 annually.

Breitbart then compares this to the salaries of an average family below the poverty line. Let’s ignore the geopolitical circumstances, and conveniently forget about how bureaucracies might work and cost. It’s okay if they are in a cage, because it has a TV, and geez, some American kids don’t even have that.

Migrant children who cross into the United States either alone or with adults have a higher standard of living once they are put into federal care than the more than 13 million American children who are living in poverty across the country.

In Fiscal Year 2017, the federal government referred nearly 41,000 unaccompanied minor border crossers to the Unaccompanied Alien Children program which is facilitated by the Office of Refugee Resettlement.

Data provided to Breitbart News reveals that each unaccompanied minor costs the federal government about $34,660 annually. This is a higher standard of living per child than the roughly 13 million American children who continue to live below the U.S. poverty line.

In 2016, there were about 13.2 million American children under the age of 18 living in poverty. These are U.S. children, for example, whose parents or guardians –in a household of four — earn less than $24,500 a year.

This annual income for an impoverished American family is $10,000 less than the more than $34,500 in federal funds which are spent on each unaccompanied minor border crosser.

Another deplorable, Laura Ingraham, describes the places where the separated children are being held as “summer camps” as if the kids are having a jolly old time.

Roussette · 19/06/2018 07:07

The audio footage is chilling, it really really is. And as for Ann Coulter, she has lost her soul. Calling these young kids 'crisis actors'. I just can't work out how these people sleep.

The Brexit voters amongst my family/colleagues (in the U.K.), have a lot of positive things to say about Trump and believe that the fake news media are out to get Trump...

Exactly the same with the Brexit voters in my family. Uncanny... They are still supportive of Trump, even in the midst of this child migrant scandal. It beggars belief.

'Are Americans growing tired of the Russia investigation? On Wednesday, a new Politico/Morning Consult poll found that 36 percent of registered voters have a negative view of special counsel Robert Mueller, who was appointed last year to probe whether members of President Trump’s 2016 campaign worked with the Russian government in an effort to influence the election. It’s a significant increase from last summer, when only 23 percent of voters had a negative view of Mueller.'

'Roger Stone’s and Michael Caputo’s damningly false denials of contact with Russians'

'But unlike other previously undisclosed meetings, this one was very, very clearly denied — and repeatedly — by both parties. It was also apparently denied in or at least omitted from their testimonies to congressional investigators. Although someone like Attorney General Jeff Sessions may have a credible argument that his denials of contact with Russians were the results of misunderstandings, Stone's and Caputo's denials were ironclad.'

The reason for the Stone story emerging now. 'Dodgy' FBI informant, fruit of poison tree, destroying the rationale for Mueller.
