The slog of this authoritarian shitshow is grinding us all down. My inspiration has gone into hiding with Melania. Knock yourselves out! (Trump cont.)

There are protests outside of various facilities and offices, BoB.

This is not exactly a slow slide into authoritarianism is it?

I hope London overflows with marchers on the 13th.

'Roger Stone and Michael Caputo are trying to spin a story about their May 2016 meeting being part of an FBI "set-up."

One little detail: The FBI's counterintelligence investigation didn't begin until July 2016 — two months after the meeting.'

Melania has made a statement...

“Mrs. Trump hates to see children separated from their families and hopes both sides of the aisle can finally come together to achieve successful immigration reform," according to a statement from her spokeswoman. "She believes we need to be a country that follows all laws, but also a country that governs with heart.”

She can fuck right off. Her husband could stop this in a heartbeat

Lweji · 17/06/2018 20:09

That looks like a non-confrontational way of sending a message to thinking Trump husband, but maye be it's my whishful thinking

I think most wives would just storm into the Oval Office.

Lweji · 17/06/2018 20:09

Sorry, random "thinking" lost its way.

Roussette · 17/06/2018 20:11

Yes but of course her husband has a heart of stone, so no hope there

Lweji · 17/06/2018 21:16

White House senior policy adviser Stephen Miller has been identified as the driving force behind the Trump administration's "zero tolerance" policy that separates immigrant children from their families at the US-Mexico border.

He would. The heartless arse.

AcrossthePond55 · 17/06/2018 22:01

Melania is trying to save her own arse for when Scrotus is out of office and she dumps him. She knows she's headed for being a pariah in the sphere she may want to re-inhabit (i.e. entertainment, modeling) unless she appears to show that she doesn't like what he's doing. She's as self-serving as he is, just in a different way. I don't think she'd purposely harm anyone, but I don't think she'd endanger herself to push someone out of the way of a bus, either.

📈Top lookups today: father, dad, daddy, honor, concentration camp

Lweji · 17/06/2018 22:57

That is the problem of comparing the immigrant situation with concentration camps. They can legitimately claim isn't as awful. And avoid talking about how awful it is.

lionheart · 17/06/2018 23:03

Yes, the rhetoric has to be carefully controlled or else it will be counter-productive.

Bannon pops up again like one of those creepy jack-in-the-box characters. Note to dictators: this is a great way to prove you are racist, heartless, and and wholly without pity. A quote:

Also Bannon: does ‘vernacular’ include lying to your own support base whenever you open your mouth or tweet? Dictionary.com: No, you blathering idiot.

This is the first time, I think, he’s dared to go as far to call the media the Enemy of the People. This is dangerous.

Why was the FBI giving so much information to the Fake News Media. They are not supposed to be doing that, and knowing the enemy of the people Fake News, they put their own spin on it - truth doesn’t matter to them!

BolleauxtoBankers · 18/06/2018 05:27

I don't know, TheClaws, maybe I'm being unduly optimistic (not like me at all, I know!), but reading what has been coming out of the USA these past few days, I'm wondering if he's not pushing back hard in fear of the media who are finally starting to challenge him and actually asking him why he is lying, to his face?

'The proper way to view the Trump Foundation scandal'

'Forget about Donald Trump for a moment.

Imagine a hypothetical man who takes donations from people who think they are giving to a charity for veterans.
The man then uses those donations to settle lawsuits against his businesses and to fund a series of publicity stunts for his own political campaign.
Now imagine that same man also starts a school. Students think they are paying tuition to learn how to start their own businesses. They are told the tuition will go to charity. But instead, the "school" has no license, the "teachers" are just salesmen preying on people's hopes and insecurities, and the "tuition" goes to line the man's pockets.
If this man were some no-name huckster, our response would be very simple: he is a con man with an unbreakable habit of fraudulent behavior, never to be trusted. ....'
