To be more accurate, Mr Miller, Trump doctrine is 'I'm America, bitch'. Everything is personal and projection for him. Eg, everyone is ripping me/America off - he spent his whole adult life doing just that.

So KJU brought his own food. If it's jiggly cake and he doesn't share someone will a bit miffed:

'Washington state Rep. Pramila Jayapal, who got into a federal Bureau of Prisons facility Saturday near Seattle to meet with roughly 170 immigrant women held there. More than a third had lost their children during their migration, either when they were detained by US officials at the southern border or when they turned themselves in seeking asylum.'

"The former UK Foreign Office permanent secretary Simon Fraser for instance sounded genuinely alarmed when he tweeted: “Conventional wisdom is that Trump is a blip & normal service will one day be resumed. This is too complacent. The deeper, even more worrying question: are US values, priorities & interests fundamentally diverging from Europe? We should be seriously worried by what has just happened in G7.”"

Deep, slimy and stinky:
'More than a year after Eric Trump’s return to Cap Cana, the plans for a new Trump-branded Dominican development have remained shrouded in secrecy. But the potential revival has raised a host of thorny questions, not only for the dozens of original buyers who lost money in the planned Caribbean resort, but for both ethics groups and the president’s congressional critics.'

That jiggly cake YouTube is quite long. Does it get exciting, or is it just them slicing up a giant wobbly cake and putting it in boxes?

Just about the size of it boat. There are numerous other examples on YouTube. People have mysterious needs.

I think one of those cakes had a layer of chicken in the middle, although I'll admit I was only half watching.

Mr. Trump never really wanted to attend the Group of 7 meeting, but aides pressed him to go even as they feared it would be a disaster because he was being forced to do something he did not want to do. He rebelled by showing up late and leaving early.

He arrived 18 minutes late for a Saturday session on gender equality and did not bother putting his headphones on for translation when President Emmanuel Macron of France spoke. At some points, Mr. Trump closed his eyes in what people in the room took to mean he was dozing off.

Mr. Trump’s conversation was described by European officials as stream of consciousness, filled with superlatives but not following a linear argument.

Representative Peter T. King, Republican of New York, called the episode a “warning shot to Kim Jong-un” in keeping with Mr. Trump’s approach to negotiations. “This is the Trump style of getting things done,” he said. As to the wisdom of such a public clash, he said, “It depends on how it turns out. This president lives on a high wire, and so far it’s been working.”

Evening all. I need your help. I’ve just woken up from a 3 month stupor (live on other side of the world, personal shit happening), and am now trying to catch up on the whole world. Thanks to you, I’ve got the Trump stuff to read, but I’m really really confused about what is happening today/ this week in the Lords to amend Brexit. Can anyone give me a two sentence / word rundown on what the Lords amendments are supposed to do, and whether it is likely to happen? It sounds like a huge deal, but I’ve looked all over the Guardian website and cannot get an answer.

I thought you would be the ones to ask. Thanks awfully.

The Westminsterenders threads are da bomb when it comes to all things Brexit. I’ll see if I can find the current one & post a link. These threads are like that slow food movement compared to the Westminsterenders KFC.

Ooh, thank you, that’s perfect! And thank you lionheard, i think they’ll get worse before they get better, but you get through the shock/crisis bits, and you have to keep on ...keeping on. No excuse to ignore the world stage je pense Smile .

Although after an hour of reading the paper, I think I want to hide - my good what the hell is happening this month!?

Thanks again Boat

Quantumblue · 11/06/2018 23:42

And he is up and tweeting. Don't like having him almost in my time zone.

AcrossthePond55 · 12/06/2018 00:03

I think the meeting is slated to begin in about 2 hours, no?

Plenty of time for Scrotus to sabotage it with a tweet, Quantum.

Follow the summit shenanigans online with The Guardian. At the moment they are locked away in their private meeting saying gosh knows what - perhaps comparing the size of their buttons.

A quote:

‘“It’s a great honor to be with you, and I know we’ll have tremendous success together,” Mr Trump told the North Korean leader across the table. “We’ll solve the big problem, the big dilemma, that until this point has been unable to be solved.
‘“We will be successful. And I look forward to working on it with you. It will be done.”
‘It’s likely Mr Trump was referring to the need to denuclearise the Korean peninsula.
‘More details of this exchange are expected when he addresses the media at 6pm (AEST).
‘Mr Kim was reportedly asked three times if he would give up his nuclear weapons. He did not answer.’

It’s likely than all Kim sought was for Trump to say it was an honour to meet him in front of the press. Why would he give up nuclear weapons? NK already live in the 1960s. If they give up nuclear, then what? They have openly stated they do not want technology, they do not want imperialism or democracy, and they are against outside assistance of any kind. So I fail to see the cards the US are playing today.

TheClaws · 12/06/2018 03:59

^^
Apart from gratuitous symbolic and self-serving cards, that is.
