AIBU being upset with FB woman

I sold a laptop on Facebook it was sold as seen but it worked fine

She was happy with it and handed over 350 pounds and I have her the passwords I offered to do a factory reset and remove the passwords she declined stating that she would remove them when she got home and assured me she would do it so that my photos etc where wiped

6 months later she still had not done this and moaned at me because not being able to print etc and she said she lost the printed out password

I tired to help but I couldn't and she got very angry and defensive and started blaming me saying it was my fault for setting the password

I've now blocked her but no thanks no nothing for being up till 3 am trying to get the firmware password turned off

I managed it in the end by trying every password I ever used and then she changed her tune

I said I am glad it's sorted because I never want to deal with her again

Was I wrong to blog her and be upset when she lost the print outs and then went on a angry rant blaming me for her misfortune?

WTAF? Why the fuck would you DO this??? Sell a laptop with your old password and info on? INCLUDING your personal photos??? Are you actually serious right now?

And who the fuck would buy a laptop for £350 ...... SECOND HAND? Hmm

Is she mad? You can buy a bleedin' new one for that. I wouldn't pay more than £50-75 for a second hand laptop. They are so fragile and hard to repair and have such short shelf lives really ... Why the hell would anyone pay £350 for a second hand laptop?! Confused

Yes you are being massively unreasonable to be upset with her. And you are not being sensible with your own safety.

I have PTSD, and it would make me more paranoid about selling a hard drive with my info on, not less.
As you now know your reaction to PTSD puts you at risk from your own behaviour, you must put measures in place to protect yourself in future.

Roussette · 04/06/2018 19:17

Agree. A reasonable new laptop is £400, did this woman honestly pay £350 for an old used one?? Shock

Agree User, this is absolute madness, I wouldn't even buy a secondhand one, who knows what viruses you might end up with

It takes no time whatsoever to do a factory reset, why on earth would you not do that?

Roussette · 04/06/2018 19:18

FuckPants a MacBook is a whole other thing. Expensive to start with and probably there's a secondhand market out there.

But a bog standard laptop... no, anyone who buys one for 350 is barking

DeepFatFriar · 04/06/2018 19:19

Yeah i wouldnt pay 350 for an old laptop, if i were a fraudster i might pay it for an old laptop with complete identity information and passwords though...

daffodillament · 04/06/2018 19:20

userv WTF ?

FuckPants · 04/06/2018 19:21

But a bog standard laptop... no, anyone who buys one for 350 is barking

Not really, you do realise that different people want different things and a £400 laptop is not comparable to a £1K one?

The OP mentioned OSX so I'm guessing she sold a Macbook, they tend to keep their value..

daffodillament · 04/06/2018 19:22

I thought it was an ipad /macbook thing ?? Grin

daffodillament · 04/06/2018 19:23

Yes.. fuckpants knows !

Roussette · 04/06/2018 19:24

Yes I do realise that FuckPants. I'm not totally stupid I still wouldn't buy a secondhand one though.

Was it a MacBook then?

UserV · 04/06/2018 19:27

You'd have to be a special kind of fucktwat to pay £350 for a second hand laptop of fucking facebook.

OFF facebook, not OF! (Fuck's sake!!! Get an edit button MN!) Hmm

daffodillament · 04/06/2018 19:28

OMG userV I AM WEAK ! Grin Grin

Roussette · 04/06/2018 19:29

UserV Grin

I think buying a secondhand laptop opens up a whole can of worms. I would rather wait, save up and get brand new. Having suffered the odd virus here and there (one very virulent one from a link on MN that cost me money to get rid of!) who knows what a secondhand laptop is infected with.

J4nice · 04/06/2018 19:30

I would really like to know where you can get a Mac book air for £75

"@Returnofthesmileybar

I often see adverts warning about people being conned etc and I think "Where are all these people thick enough to fall for this shit".... and now I have found one"

I am not thick enough to fall for this, I am sick enough, others are lucky enough to function and work as I once did but leaving the house is as much as I can cope with in the day and my concentration lacks

It was more of the fact that I did it before thinking and was in a fragile state from being triggered

I agree it was stupid and in days like today when I have a good day it wouldn't have happened but I still feel it was wrong of the woman to get angry and blame me for her looking the firmware password which prevented wiping

FuckPants · 04/06/2018 19:30

*@FuckPants

Just fucking do one. The OP never said FUCK ALL about it being a mac, and other posters agree with me.

How dare you claim I know FUCK ALL, when you know FUCK ALL about me.

Just bore off!*

The OP mentioned OSX which is a Mac OS.

HTH.
