Is my arm incubating something?

I've been bitten by something over the last few days or so. Nothing ever bites me generally so I've no idea how I normally react to these sorts of things. Anyhow, it's super itchy, red and swollen, but also has six little blisters all around the bite, which I'm a bit confused over.

DH took one look at it and declared that I'll have spider babies coming out of it shortly, which I initially laughed at but now I'm a little worried as the blisters are 'growing' and definitely getting bigger, which is increasing the swelling.

Do I need to see someone about it or let it just do it's own thing?

I think we need a picture 😁
Seriously though, if it's growing, get it looked at.

I would be calling 111 for advise or going to out of hours of I were you.
One of the ladies at my work got bitten on her arm twice by spiders and had a similar reaction. She ended up with cellulitis and had to take extra strong antibiotics to get rid of them.

Need photo for diagnosis Grin

DaanSaaf · 03/06/2018 21:18

Not placemarking or anything but we really do need a pic to judge Wink

tastylancs · 03/06/2018 21:19

Sounds like a spider bite - I'm guessing you are in southern England? But need to see to be sure!

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 03/06/2018 21:20

DS1 had something VERY similar sounding about three weeks ago - I suggested going to the GP for a look but he didn't get round to it. The blisters have now (finally) gone and it is just a bit pink.

CarefullyAirbrushedPotato · 03/06/2018 21:21

Spider bites tend to blister, often you can see the teeth marks. Genuinely.

Or maybe it's herpes gladatorium...

Butttons · 03/06/2018 21:21

Where's the picture OP?!

Peaspleaselouise · 03/06/2018 21:23

Are you in/near Dorset or Oxfordshire by any chance, OP? There has been a big outbreak of the Blandford Fly in these parts over the last few weeks - I had one and had a very bad reaction including blisters, which is characteristic of the Blandford Fly...

FeralBeryl · 03/06/2018 21:28

OP take an antihistamine tablet as soon as you can. Take a pic first for us though.

bluerunningshoes · 03/06/2018 21:33

draw a line around the red.
then put on a sting (hydrocortisone) cream & take an antihistamine.
if it gets worse go see a gp.

sparklefluff · 03/06/2018 21:35

Awaits picture patiently...

Buggeritimgettingup · 03/06/2018 21:37

Pic or it never happened!

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 03/06/2018 21:37

Picture of DS1's rash today if anyone has an idea. It's about 2cm across on his arm. The blisters did produce puss but gave now largely gone.

ItsNachoCheese · 03/06/2018 21:38

Could it be a tick bite?

MyOtherUsernameisaPun · 03/06/2018 21:44

That looks very, very much like ringworm - not an actual worm or anything incubating! But is contagious and very uncomfortable and needs a cream to get rid of it so I would get to a pharmacist tomorrow

MyOtherUsernameisaPun · 03/06/2018 21:45

(That was for @Grumpyoldpersonwithcats btw!)

SeaToSki · 03/06/2018 21:46

Could be an allergic reaction to nickle. Any metal tags, buttons, watches or jewelry that could have been pressing on the spot?

Try slathering it in antihistamine cream and see what that does.

Also draw around it with a biro so you can see if it grows / expands. If it does - straight to doctor

lljkk · 03/06/2018 21:50

piccie from OP, pls.
see a chemist if you don't have a suitable cream to put on it or want a prof. opinion.

DixieFlatline · 03/06/2018 21:51

Super itchy, red, swollen insect bite with blisters? Yep, know it well. I react like this to lots of bites. To help the inflammation go down (so hopefully the blisters stop getting bigger and more painful), definitely take antihistamines and put something slightly cold on the area too, if you can bear it.

Draw a line around the redness if it spreads out from the bite area, and use the line to keep an eye on whether the redness/swelling continues to move or grow after starting on the antihistamines (and the cold treatment, ideally).
