To have gone nuts at having 'shit' spurted up mine and DS's legs?

IceCreamDebacle · 03/06/2018 17:16

DS and I were getting changed in a cubicle at the swimming pool. Almost dressed when suddenly a stream of what I thought was shit spurted from the under the cubicle next to us going all up my legs, DS's and over our flip flops.

It took me a few seconds to register it at first and as the cubicle was silent (no baby sounds had come from it to explain a poonami and hadn't heard anyone in there), I suddenly thought that someone must have had diarrhoea in the next cubicle and a wave of bloody disgust comes over meAngry.

I go and knock loudly on the cubicle and ask rather loudly what has just gone over the floor in the cubicle because we've got it over us.

A young girl about 12/13 opens it in only in a towel which I felt bad about afterwards Hmm and says she does not not what it is but it hit her on the shoulder.

It transpires that someone had lobbed a melted ice cream in a carton over her cubicle. It looked exactly like shit. She didn't get it on her as it slatted on the floor and hit us.

When the relief of seeing it wasn't someone's excrement had passed, I was still bloody furious that someone had done that and ranted a bit at the staff calling them 'little shits' in front of DSBlush which he told me off about afterwards. I then ranted a bit again at reception and told them to look at their CCTV. Not blaming them but saying I'd never seen this sort of behavior in my life and they shouldn't be letting kids come back in the changing room when they'd bought food from the cafe.

Feel a bit like I went OTT now. Am a bit ragey at the best of times due to various things that I'm dealing with.

Would you have gone nuts at this?

If I caught the ones who did it I would have told them in no uncertain terms (no swear words though) what I thought of them. Doing so to the staff and reception wasn't helpful though, they didn't do it or intentionally allow it to happen.

RoseanneBarred · 03/06/2018 17:20

I would have been pissed off but not the staff's fault. Appalling behaviour from the perpetrators though Angry

IceCreamDebacle · 03/06/2018 17:22

I didn't blame the staff but was a bit loud and obviously angryBlush.

I'm a member so go to the gym/pool regularly. Worried they're going to have me done as a fruitloop!

You were a bit of an arse to be honest. The young girl probably felt quite intimidated and the staff hadn't done anything wrong. If i'd caught you hammering on my child's cubicle door and "talking loudly" then shit on your leg would have been the least of your worries

SoddingUnicorns · 03/06/2018 17:24

I didn't blame the staff but was a bit loud and obviously angry

You were loud and angry at the wrong people.

IceCreamDebacle · 03/06/2018 17:27

So you would have been quite calm at what looked like shit spurting up yours and your kids leg from the next cubicle then stray. It was odd as the girl didn't make a sound after it must have come into her cubicle. She couldn't have missed it, it was all over her bit of floor. Thinking about it now, I'm wondering if she dropped it as I didn't hear anyone going past outside Confused.

PolkaHots · 03/06/2018 17:30

Well she wouldn’t bloody have admitted it to you, would she?

Shoutylady · 03/06/2018 17:32

Right but what if the “shit” had actually come from the girl? Like if she’d got a terrible illness and it hit her all of a sudden? You should have apologised to her, the poor girl must have felt awful. You totally over reacted.

strayducks18 · 03/06/2018 17:32

Well shit has a pretty distinctive smell so I think you can ascertain in seconds if that is what it actually is. And yes I am a pretty calm person who likes to know the facts before going of half cocked like a raging loon. My dad was like you though ranting and raving and huffing and puffing like the world had ended over something minor. He was a joy to be around Hmm

Maybe she did drop it by accident but given your demeanor didn't feel like fessing up.

ilovesooty · 03/06/2018 17:34

I feel sorry for the girl you intimidated quite frankly.

AnnieAnoniMouser · 03/06/2018 17:35

I have a 12yo, she wouldn’t have made a sound either. She’d have carried on getting dressed then either cleaned it up, told me or found a staff member to deal with it. She’s not prone to histrionics over feck all. So you can quit blaming her because she didn’t over react like you 🙄

I’m concerned you can’t tell the difference between not ice cream and poo tbh.

...and ranting at the staff was ridiculous, they’d justifiably have you down as ‘that woman’.

strayducks18 · 03/06/2018 17:36

Oh and if you really think it was her that dropped it by accident then you actually look like an even bigger prat ranting to staff about such disgraceful behaviour and demanding they check CCTV.

MissVanjie · 03/06/2018 17:36

Yes, obvs not ideal but if someone had shit themselves i’m not sure you braying on the door and loudly demanding to know what had happened would have helped matters, unless you think ppl regularly shit themselves in public out of spite.

Guacamoledip · 03/06/2018 17:37

If she was actually ill and it was actually shit then it’s still a pretty bad reaction and it’s some ice cream, shouting at a young girl wasn’t going to help the situation. It either wasn’t her fault or if she dropped it, then it was an accident, even if it was actual poo, still an accident.
You was in a place with showers, go wash your legs and get on with your day. Then have a quiet word with the staff and say someone may be throwing ice creams and they might want to keep an eye on anyone going into changing rooms with food.

IceCreamDebacle · 03/06/2018 17:38

Shit, yes I would have apologised to someone who shit up my legs Confused.

Only on MN!

It's one of those times where you brain is trying to decipher what happened quickly and jumps to the obvious conclusion based on what it looks like.

If she'd dropped it herself, she only had to shout, sorry, it was an ice cream, through the cubicle and I would have got over it pretty much immediately! Better than thinking it was poo fgs!

OP posts:
MumofBoysx2 · 03/06/2018 17:38

I would not have gone nuts (or flake, or strawberry sauce) because I would have been SO relieved it was not poo. So funny!

Shoutylady · 03/06/2018 17:39

No I meant you should have apologised for scaring a naked 13 year old..

IceCreamDebacle · 03/06/2018 17:41

She was the one who said someone threw it.

I only asked her what it was and she opened the door.

OP posts:
Rocinante1 · 03/06/2018 17:41

My guess would be someone left it on the cubicle bench once they'd changed to go swimming. She was getting dressed and knocked it over? If she was on the way out from the pool.
If she was on the way in, then it was probably hers.

But, if it had been bodily fluids, you would have smelt it straight away. Sounds like you just went mad and didn't even take 30 seconds yo process the situation or figure it out.

Learn to control yourself and get some help with your anger. Swearing and shouting at people who are just doing a job is not on.

Littletreefrog · 03/06/2018 17:41

Honestly melted chocolate ice cream looks very different to any poo I've ever seen and it must have been a very large tub for it to be dropped on the floor spread from one cubicle to the next and half way up your legs! I think you are over reacting and I think you will now be 'that woman'

Whisky2014 · 03/06/2018 17:41

It was nothing to do with the girl...did you apologise to her? Once she told you someone had chucked it did you not immediately start looking for the culprit? And i wouldn't have shouted at the staff either but i would have been annoyed.

Buggered · 03/06/2018 17:41

Step in shower wearing flip flops and surely that’s the drama over isn’t it?

sweeneytoddsrazor · 03/06/2018 17:42

How can you mistake ice cream for shit? And i imagine if someone had shit so badly it came under the cubicle and splashed up your legs there would have been some accompanying noises. Total over reaction from you.

BertrandRussell · 03/06/2018 17:43

Adult people should not "go nuts". Particularly at people who have done nothing wrong.

Wishesdocometrue · 03/06/2018 17:43

But even when you knew it was an ice cream you carried on being loud, angry and swearing. If you can't control your anger in public because of whatever is going on in your life, you should stay home.
