Should I go to the dog carnival or stay in and clean?

The local dog reduce runs an annual just for fun dog carnival day in the village park. Fun ring judging (waggiest tail etc) stalls, tombola, agility courses for the dogs etc. Me and DP go every year as it is a nice day our for our two dogs and we get to see all the other dogs. Plus there's usually some quite unique breeds that you don't get to see everyday (there's always a couple of Pharoe(?) Hounds that I love!)

However, I thought it was next month and only just realised today this it is on this afternoon. DP has already agreed to go and play golf with his friends so can't manage.

Now... should I just go myself? Honestly, I don't know of I can manage both of my two dogs myself. One is completely fine but the other one can be nervous and barky for a small while in these situations so it takes one if us to help calm him down until he enjoys himself whilst the other holds the other dog. If I wanted to buy something from a stall or have an ice cream or a burger... Well that woukd be impossible with the two leads. Plus I wouldn't have anybody to play "guess the breed" with or sit all day and say hey look at that dog, aww look at the puppy etc

However, the alternative is to stay and clean the house, do the washing etc. Which I am slightly miffed that he will be out enjoying the sunshine with his mates and I will be Cinderella without the ball at the end.

What would you you?

Go to the carnival!

AlonsoTigerHeart · 03/06/2018 10:24

Dog carnival would win over most things.

DragonsAndCakes · 03/06/2018 10:25

Go for a little bit and then come back and do some cleaning, whatever will make the house look most different in the shortest amount of time.

justaweeone · 03/06/2018 10:26

I'd go, maybe not even take the dogs
We may go to one near us today and will probably not take ours, the aren't often on the lead as used to running on the fields so get a bit bored! However we are still helping to raise money for a worthwhile charity!
The cleaning will still be there tomorrow

SodTheGreenfly · 03/06/2018 10:30

If the housee needs cleaning it needs cleaning and that would take priority for me.

If it's clean then I'd just take one dog. You have said you don't think you can manage two by yourself and therefore it would be irresponsibke to attempt it.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 03/06/2018 10:34

Dog carnival!

Mirrorwriting · 03/06/2018 10:35

Carnival. Cleaning never ends. Do 20 minutes before you go of the most shameful/shocking.

Mirrorwriting · 03/06/2018 10:35

*areas.

Fatball · 03/06/2018 10:38

Go with just the more confident dog.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 03/06/2018 10:38

If you think that you can actually manage with both dogs go! Or maybe leave the anxious one at home? Or would you be out too long?

ItsNachoCheese · 03/06/2018 10:40

Dog carnival wins hands down

Hamandcheesebaguette · 03/06/2018 10:48

I could just take the more confident one, I should only be about three hours and the other one is old now and is quite happy to sleep in the sun on the sofa! And with just one lead i could have a free hand for an ice cream [smile
But then I can't enter them into the "best couple" judging ring Grin

I say go. Take one. Have a lovely time.

beluga425 · 03/06/2018 10:52

The cleaning will wait (I am sure very patiently).
Take the confident dog and have a lovely time.

SomeKnobend · 03/06/2018 10:56

Go to the carnival, take the confident dog.

DustyMaiden · 03/06/2018 10:58

I would rather clean. But if you enjoy it then go.

mimiasovitch · 03/06/2018 11:06

YABU to have a dog carnival near you and not by me. Sounds amazing. Go with one and have fun and icecream Smile

Eliza9917 · 03/06/2018 11:24

Go to the carnival and then get DH to clean with you this evening.

I wish there was a dog carnival near me today! I thought there was a French weekend in s town nearby as someone mentioned it was on this weekend at work the other day but I googled it earlier and it's on the 9th/10th so currently looking up things to do today.

stayathomegardener · 03/06/2018 11:42

Wish I was going to a dog carnival.

eddielizzard · 03/06/2018 11:44

carnival. take the easy dog. don't be a martyr!!!

UpstartCrow · 03/06/2018 11:46

Your DP has arranged to go and play golf instead of washing and cleaning. Go to the carnival with one dog if the anxious one can be left. If not, go without the dogs.

resignedtoresigning · 03/06/2018 11:48

Dog carnival with confident dog. Bring back a present for nervous dog. Do not do cleaning!! Very jealous of dog carnival, if be there like a shot.

HildaZelda · 03/06/2018 11:48

Go. The cleaning will still be there tomorrow. The carnival won't.

theymademejoin · 03/06/2018 12:06

Go to the carnival.

I know it's no good to you today but I use this lead (below) when I have both dogs on my own. I connect the leads together at the handle so they both still have as much freedom as they would on a normal lead on their own. I've tried the connectors but one of the dogs hates being pulled by the other if she wants to sniff something so I never use it.

I managed to convince my mum to meet me there Grin

We all had a great time and won 5 rosettes Grin had a try fail on the agility courses and made lots of new friends, including a blind Siberian Husky and a Great Dane, much to the delight of my 2 kilogram pomeranian.

Just doing a quick whip round with a cloth and the Hoover now.

Just to clarify, me and DP have an agreement we are both happy with where he does all the cooking, dishes and general wiping down kitchen/bathroom during the week and I do a big clean, change bedding and hoover/mop on a weekend so I'm glad to have him out from under my feet for a few hours so I can do my turn Grin
