I have a DD 9mths I just bought her a adorable dress which says whales and girls are best friends. (It’s for 18 months from the charity shop but it’s too cute!)

My mum saved my patchwork velvet coat from when I was 3 as she loved it so much. I know children aren’t dolls but what are your kids favorite outfits? Do you find their taste in clothes changed a lot as they grew up?

Oh and check out sewing circus for their amazing clothes. DD has been wearing her 'Land before Time' dinosaur dress for 2 years now...

susej · 03/06/2018 20:20

I love my 8 month old in baby gros, or dungarees but he does look especially cute in little cotton shorts with a colourful vest on. He looks lovely in yellow and bright green!

stopstalkingmee · 03/06/2018 20:38

My favourite outfit for DS was a pair of blue jersey dungarees with an all over red tractor print by maxomorra, with a stripy vest underneath. He looked amazing in it! That or the frugi rainbow trousers we had in every size.

For DD1 it was a frugi dress, it was purple with little pink birds on.

I'm torn with DD2, it's between her maxomorra sunflower dungarees and a tunic she had with robots on.

I love bright colours! There's only a small period of time when they can pull off looking like a rainbow vomited on them. DD1 is 6 and all into leggings and crop tops now :(

I’ve found my tastes have changed massively between mine even though there’s only three years between them. This summer I’m having a romper phase with DS2, but don’t remember putting DS1 in them at all. Still have some favourites from DS1 I’m excited to get out though. Like this knitted jumper. It lasted forever and looked as good when we packed it away as when we got it. And with DS2 I LOVED this mushroom top, was very sad when I couldn’t squeeze him into it any more! I buy most stuff second hand but try to buy good brands as they wear and wash well.

liquidrevolution can I add "Interstellar Cinderella" to that book list please?

Odoreida · 03/06/2018 21:26

My friend just sent me a photo of her baby girl in a navy summer dress. I was wearing an identical one today. It really made me laugh. The baby looked gorgeous - rare to see a baby in navy but it was lovely. My son (aged 7) gets sent shirts with outlandish brightly coloured patterns on which he loves - totally different from what everyone else is wearing.

LittleBird74 · 03/06/2018 21:44

Little Bird clothing pretty much all the time. We love it. My son is 6 and neither him nor I like ‘boys clothing’
Lord knows what we will do now they’ve stopped making it bigger than size 4-5.

liquidrevolution · 03/06/2018 22:14

@SnugglySnerd absolutely. Its on DDs birthday list. Was the CBeebies bedtime story last recently, DD was transfixed.

Also my favourite childrens book - The Ordinary Princess by MM Kaye. I have just finished reading this to DD while she baths Grin

BigPinkBall · 03/06/2018 22:24

I try to dress dd (12 months) in non-girly clothes, so lots of reds, greens & yellows but my absolute favorite outfit is a nautical striped dress from JoJo. There’s just something so cute about babies in sailor outfits.

LadyOdd · 03/06/2018 22:26

Cocksandrubbers (lol) is it a Dino onesie? Or an actual costume lol I. Not sure if boys are harder to dress, oddly looking at my kid photos I was born in the 90’s but I spent nearly my entire childhood looking like I was born in the 80’s it really spun my DH out

My girl is 3 months old and I love her in anything pink and preferably with an animal face on it. It's really strange because I exclusively wear black but I can't help myself!

LadyOdd · 03/06/2018 22:40

Susej yellow and bright green!not many times in life when you get to wear that colour combo, best to milk it while you can!

Oh stopstalk I agree with rainbow vomit! DD has a very cute rainbow outfit which I have a pic with her and my mum also wearing rainbow I’m sure people thought we were odd balls! I’ve seen a lot of young girls in crop tops and leggings I don’t really like it tbh (although I definitely do not have the figure for it but might carry off DD bunny outfit lol)

AveAtque Sooo cute I love mushrooms 🍄 the bandana bib? Is adorbs and the little jumper! It’s so hard finding cute jumpers, DD had a beautiful knitted grey dress she looked so cool in but I accidentally shrunk it 😫 looked like a dolls dress.

Oderida haha what a coincidence! I love navel on kids too ❤️ Have you got any pics of these outlandish patterns? I’m trying my best to imagine them!

LittleBird that’s a shame, it seems a few people are finding it hard when their kids get older 🌹

I love dungarees on a baby!

DS (7mo) has a little pair of beige chinos with actual braces on them. I put them over this little short sleeved vest he has that has a waistcoat and dickie bow attached to him. He looks so smart and adorable in that outfit! Also, babygros with no 'feet' are really cute too.

LadyOdd · 03/06/2018 22:54

Bigpinkball I love my DD in yellows, blues, green and orange...my favorite colour is yellow but I look dreadful in it!

I bought the Goodnight Stories for Rebel Girls book in Sainsbury's when it was on offer. I'm saving it for an Xmas gift for DD but I might read it myself first!

zukiecat · 05/06/2018 09:46

I might get shot down for this but I loved both my girls in pink and white dresses, with white socks and pink shoes

DD1 went through an EMO stage in her teens, but has become very girly again

DD2 always adored pink, she had a pink and cream checked dress that she loved. She refused to wear trousers at all until she was 12/13

She also prefers to wear dresses now

SnugglySnerd · 05/06/2018 10:15

Zukie I was adamant that I wouldn't dress DD in pink but everyone bought pink baby clothes when she was born and the colour really suits her. Then we had boy/girl twins and guess what - everyone bought pink and blue! Despite that I still get asked if they are identical whenever we go out
