There's a snake on my roof

Exactly that. Sat in my garden in Bulgaria, look up and there's a huge snake sat in the shade on my roof 🐍
I've googled it and it's a European rat snake. My OH is running round the house arming himself with kitchen knives and a yard brush. 🙄 Aibu to sit back and let it do its thing or should I burn the house down now and get the next flight back to England?

We lived in the countryside in E Europe and saw quite a few snakes. Came back to the UK to visit and the DC were very pleased that they wouldn't see any here. Second day back and the spot an adder. I had never seen one before! They lost all faith in anything I said about the UK after that.

Even if it were venomous, it's when he's far more likely to be bitten.

We used to get the odd cobra or viper in our garden when we lived in Asia. Even my Devonian DH could catch them in a noose and take them to the hills.

I know I'm going to get absolutely slated 😬 but the 'love nature' posters are being naive,wondering why people might be scared of snakes

No snakes today . Heard what we think is a bealkie (?!) in our roof. That lives in the barn and since that moved in no rat problems. It's a type of weasel thing the locals have told us. But had this beauty in the garden this morning

Fuck that i’d be on a plane back to Scotland quicker than you can say snake. I hate them I have a really bad phobia and cry and hyperventilate just seeing photos.

It's a house marten living in our barn , as well as snakes on the roof. Hence we have no rodent issues. Don't know what's worse!
