McVites Abbey Crunch was royalty amongst biscuits, an oaty, crunchy, great textured, with a hint of salt in the after taste. This was before anyone had discovered the hipster 'salted caramel' fad. I miss the Abbey Crunch's tragic dimise
Lincoln Biscuits were also a lovely staple biscuit, you knew where you were with a Lincoln Biscuit and a cup of tea, and everything was all right with the world.
These days some biscuits have changed to resemble confectionery. To much cheap chocolate loaded with oil, cmon have a word with yourselves, a biscuit should have a crunch, be good in bed with it's partner the cup of tea. And dare I say it, be able to become breakfast when your running late in the morning. Every household should have a biscuit barrel, and then children will grow up knowing the delight of this thing of beauty being opened and being able to peer inside and select a proper biscuit.
So today is special for biscuit lovers everywhere, and my vote would go to the Ginger Nut, it's got a kick, it goes great with hot drinks and it's not over sweet. However a special treat would be The Tunnocks Caramel Log, all that toasted coconut on the outside is just wonderful.
