Dont want to harm them but im feed up now of this. Weve tried everything...lemon juice, expensive low level noises machines (one got stolen by teenagers as a dare) to name a few. The poo strinks (and the wee) (cats do not bury) and ive a toddler who enjoys this mall match of green. It looks amazing now after our hard work. Please wise mntters give me more advice on what else we can do about this pest. Weve rented for years and finally escapped the rent trap so this tiny garden (think terrace house) is vvvv important to us and its being ruined. Its not foxes etc its cats. I need to know plants cats hate the smell of.

Stickitupthebunting

You never had £50 worth plants destroyed, paddling pools broken, sand boxes poohed in, bags of pooh over the grass.

It’s disgusting

QuitMoaning · 28/05/2018 22:36

@Stickitupthebunting
i have these movement activated noise machines and going to buy more. I can’t use my own lawn because of the cat shit then I will do anything to stop it. I will never harm a cat but I will do everything else.

I have told my neighbours I am going to do many different things but I didn’t want them to worry I would hurt their cats.
I am going to use some other ideas (have already thrown water over them) as well.

TittyGolightly · 28/05/2018 22:40

We’ve tried everything, and live somewhere where all front gardens have to be open scheme (no fences or walls).

DH works from home much of the time. We’re going for a motion detection camera plus a good kick up the arse. Any that crap in the garden when he’s not able to attend will have their deposits returned to their owners. Fucking filthy animals.

TittyGolightly · 28/05/2018 22:42

What do you suggest I do with my Nan's cat to stop her going into next doors garden? Honestly.

Keep it in your fucking house and deal with it’s shit yourself.

👍 exactly that

Stickitupthebunting · 28/05/2018 23:10

quitmoaning and you know children can hear the unpleasant noise as well? Especially difficult when they're pre -verbal, and can't tell you why they're upset? And often anyone under 25 can hear them?

Those machines are a noise nuisance. They don't deter cats. Their safety in terms of children's hearing is unproven.

Stickitupthebunting · 28/05/2018 23:12

However annoying cat poo is, those noise machines are anti social, and potentially damaging.

RachelTeeth · 28/05/2018 23:14

TittyGolightly exactly.
People who choose to have a cat can keep it indoors, thus protecting it from being tortured by weirdos, shot, hit by a car, picking up diseases, getting injured on barbed wire and stuff, stop it from decimating wildlife and trashing other people’s property and stinking the place up. If it ‘doesn’t like being inside all the time though’, reconsider getting a cat, it’s the only pet that’s legally not properly, but a wild animal, so it’s allowed to shite all over the place, so the owners need to pick its shite up, or contain it, it’s only fair.

AdoraBell · 28/05/2018 23:27

I haven’t tried this myself, but someone from the cat protection league said, on the radio, peel from any citrus fruit with eucalyptus oil. Apparently it puts them off without causing any harm.

CocoAndTheChocolates · 28/05/2018 23:50

This is my life at mo. My DCs can't use our garden as it stinks of cat piss and I never know if or where the shit is.

I used to scatter spice / pepper mixes but it rains ALL THE TIME here so They're soon back.

I think it's irresponsible. Cats should roam in their own garden

VogueVVague · 28/05/2018 23:54

YABU to write it "pooh". Gross spelling

willsa · 28/05/2018 23:57

Outdoor cat owners ( they could have a house cat, to let them roam is owners' choice ) should be taxed. The money could go on neighbourhood schemes. Would make owners think twice before installing their cat-flap.

SandAndSea · 29/05/2018 00:03

Oo! Oo! I might have the answer to this one!!

You need the urine of a righteous man!

Or just a normal man. That'll work too.
You just sprinkle it round.

I'll leave that with you.

TimeToDash · 29/05/2018 00:25

Can you get a lawn sprinkler and put it on when you're out? Water pistols when you're in 😉

TimeToDash · 29/05/2018 00:29

Btw we have cats here sometimes but our dog does chase them off. But we still get their nuggets in the garden sometimes. Wish people would control their animals!

poppym12 · 29/05/2018 00:44

I use the hose pipe on the cats who come into my garden. It seems to have put them off as now I only need to move towards the patio doors and they're off like a shot. Thinking of putting some strips along my fence too. Cat neighbour can say what she likes, it's my fence.

BlueEyedBengal · 29/05/2018 00:45

Orange peel, cats hate it.

Penners99 · 29/05/2018 03:59

I used a paintball gun. No cats returned.

Livingsymbol · 29/05/2018 07:13

Has anyone set up a online petition to get this heard?

jigsawpiece · 29/05/2018 07:50

Sadly no longer available but some of the reviews for this are very funny.

You might find something similar?

olivesnutsandcheese · 29/05/2018 08:23

My neighbour has lovely rose bushes. When he prunes them he keeps all the prickly stems and lies them prickly side up in the flower beds. No cats seem to bother him.

Nomad86 · 29/05/2018 08:24

We tried the male wee thing and we haven't had any cat poo since. My DH filled a jug first thing when the wee is most concentrated and poured it round the edge of the garden. Worth a try as it's free.

AmIthatbloodycold · 29/05/2018 08:46

Amazing. Only one "are you sure it's not fox pop"

Lemons (from my G&t), chilli powder and car repellent granules

Now I just have to chase the fuckers from the bonnet of my car Angry

Ohyesiam · 29/05/2018 08:56

Poo is spelt pop not pooh.
Waterpistols get rid of cats very effectively
