I was bloody obsessed with Barry Gibb, Dave from Shawaddywaddy, Alvin Stardust and later Richard Clayderman the wet pianist.
To be fair, I still fancy Barry Blush.

Then and now

@jetSTAR Ooh yes, Simon was lovely in Manimal, one of those high-concept, rather bizarre 80s action serials. I think he sadly died of cancer several years ago though.

IcedPurple · 30/05/2018 07:53

Morten Harket (and all of the AHA lads come to think of it)
John Taylor
Larry from U2
Stefan Edberg

I'm pleased to say all of the above have held up pretty well and are still looking fairly fine.

Also Damon from Brookside, though haven't seen him in yonks so no idea if he's still got it!

villandrychat · 30/05/2018 07:58

Damon Albarn
Bob Geldof
Michael Hutchence
Peter Capaldi (from when I saw him in Local Hero - still would)

alltoomuchrightnow · 30/05/2018 14:07

Villageshop - do you mean Chris Norman (who used to sing in Smokie?) If so, DP works for him , he does his shows (sound engineer). Says he's a really lovely guy. Only this morning I was looking with annoyance at a magnet of him on our fridge! DP's idea of a joke. I'm sure he's a top bloke but I don't want him on our fridge!

alltoomuchrightnow · 30/05/2018 14:08

IcedPurple, I'm going to google Simon O'Brien right now!

alltoomuchrightnow · 30/05/2018 14:12

umm Villageshop ... he was right there under our noses, with his own tv show Find It Fix It Flog It. I wouldn't have recognised him from this photo but has aged well! And here he is with my modern day unlikely crush, Henry Cole.. whom I have a real thing for!

alltoomuchrightnow - YES! How exciting, those cheekbones circa 1975. I wouldn't mind him on my fridge, or on the washing machine. Wink

Is that him in the photo? I wouldn't recognise him there at all - is he the one on the left? Confused

My H looked a bit like him back then, nothing at all to do with why we got together, oh no.

My first love was Michael Praed in Robin of Sherwood when I was 7.

Next was Agatha Jun/Princess depending on whether it was G-Force of Battle of the Planets.

Then Jason Donovan, Jon and Donnie from New Kids on the Block.

Then I developed good taste in music and liked Clint from Pop Will Eat Itself, Damon from Blur, Thom from Radiohead, Kurt from Nirvana, Richey and James from Manic Street Preachers. Wouldn't have said no to Justine from Elastica, or Miki from Lush (not so keen on Lush's music though).

Had a bit of a thing for Christian Slater for a while. And Johnny Depp.

GythaEsmeMagrat · 30/05/2018 19:48

I was in love with Sean Bean (more accurately, Richard Sharpe) aged 12.

Robson and Jerome's Unchained Melody was out that summer and I used to sing it to Sean daily... Blush

MadMaryBoddington · 30/05/2018 19:49

Morten Harket till the day I die.

Lilacwine1 · 30/05/2018 19:51

Oliver Tobias, I couldn't have him so I married the man who is the spitting image of him.

Lilacwine1 · 30/05/2018 19:54

Oh yes, Sean Bean. I sent him a letter asking for his autograph, I started the letter.....Dear Mr Bean......

OohMavis · 30/05/2018 19:54

Oh Johnny Depp. Where did you go? Sad

And erm, Mike Baldwin from Corrie

JoffreyBaratheon · 30/05/2018 20:45

You're gonna hate me but I was asked out by Ali Campbell. (Before he was famous but only shortly before). I thought he was drunk and a fantasist (was going on about a record deal) and turned him down.

Yes, I am that stupid. And maybe he was drunk. But he chased me down the street asking me to go out with him. Very shortly after there he was on 'Top of the Pops' and we read about him and realised he had often played the pub I saw him outside, and his dad lived in the next street. So am pretty sure it was him.

Worse still, I fancied him. I just thought he was making it up.
