TO ask what colour your living room is?

We have a big living room which is a mix of dark flooring and red decoration - bloody awful.

We've just bought light distressed oak wooden flooring which DH is busy installing but what to do with the rest of it?

I want it light, possibly yellows and pale greens. The walls are currently standard magnolia with a red flowered feature wall (I know!).

What colour are your walls and do you have a feature wall?

Will White all round be too much?

I have a light green on most of the walls and sky blue on one. The curtains are sky blue with a large bright pink/red/green flower pattern. The sofa is hot pink. It is all fabulous and beautiful and makes everyone smile when they come in. Recommended.

TamzinGrey · 28/05/2018 17:43

Creamy white with a feature wall of Dulux Dusted Fondant which is a pretty pale plum colour. Love it.

Outfoxed · 28/05/2018 17:45

Pale blue with one slate grey wall. All four walls the colour stops about a foot from the ceiling and then it’s white. All soft furnishings are similar grey or blue tones

We have Crushed Aloe, like @Llanali.

We have the lighter Willow Tree in the kids' bedrooms. Both are lovely.

RavenLG · 28/05/2018 18:40

@InMemoryOfSleep it's Armstead (I think that's the trade name for Dulux, DP got trade paint through work so it was cheaper lol!) It's in Sapphire Springs 1 in Vinyl Matt.

PurplePimple · 28/05/2018 18:42

We have Dulux white mist everywhere and chic shadow across the chimney breast / alcove wall.

Think I need my glasses changing. I read that as crushed Alice

Idontbelieveinthemoon · 28/05/2018 18:55

Ours is Farrow and Ball Elephan's Breath. Sounds batshit but the colour is a super pale taupe sort that is just the exact shade of neutral I love without being magnolia (which I despise).

The furniture is all solid oak and the rug is a pale rose sort of pink with similarly coloured curtains and cushions in shades of pinks, taupes and greys. I'm a huge fan of neutrals in here as it's quite a big room and the shades help it look warmer.

opinionatedfreak · 28/05/2018 18:56

All white walls. Blonde wood floor.

Magenta cushions, teal rug, grey sofas, dining table and other bits around (eg. Door) are greeny-glass.

I like it!!

flumpybear · 28/05/2018 19:07

Ours is white with a feature wall in suede paint - currently chocolate but want to change to grey - laminate shiney wooden type floor in a caramel type colour (not distressed!) Got black granite and white marble fire surround and white curtains with black peonies in raised velvet type design - peacock blue colour corner sofa and a white sofa for the kids (washable!!)

I want either white tiles or wood effect tiles in a lounge/dining/kitchen area ...

happytobemrsg · 28/05/2018 19:13

Grey (F&B Blackened)

Witchend · 28/05/2018 19:19

Purple with yellow skirting boards and silver round the mantelpiece.Grin

ProzacAndWine · 28/05/2018 19:26

Pale green walls (Dulux Wellbeing), white skirting boards, ceiling and furniture. Curtains etc vary - currently mostly darker green.

ghostyslovesheets · 28/05/2018 19:30

grey wall - the rest white - orange accents and grey/orange curtains

it's 3 years old and dated now so going to change it soon

PeonyTruffle · 28/05/2018 19:34

Grey and pale yellow, white wooden shutter blinds and furniture

I love it, nice and relaxing

ChoccyJules · 28/05/2018 19:36

We're in desperate need of new paint in the living room. It's North-facing and have seen two schools of thought, either make it bright and warm or else go with a dark but cosy colour. The floor is oak and we have a black slate fireplace with oak mantlepiece.

Cerseilannisterinthesnow · 28/05/2018 22:19

choccy I was like you, I had originally chosen a shade called sapphire salute to go with the pebble shore on the other 3 walls but Amy friend pointed out that it’s such a big living room it may feel too cold in the colder months which made me go for a warmer feature shade, heart wood I think it’s called, Dulux colour of the year 2018 apparently!

Maelstrop · 28/05/2018 22:21

Egyptian sand yellow walls, gloss white woodwork, very vanilla ice cream colours. Tiled floor, pale beige, slightly textured so the ddog doesn’t slip. Blush

Menarefrommarsitwouldseem · 28/05/2018 22:45

I don't know if this has already been mentioned but dulux have an app where you can apply your 'chosen colours' to the wall via a photo

This might be really old news but I found it today and think it's amazing Grin

DinoSn0re · 28/05/2018 22:48

We’ve just done ours in a light sage green, it’s beautiful and I love it!

beargryllshasabigrope · 28/05/2018 22:50

Dulux nutmeg white

yikesanotherbooboo · 28/05/2018 22:51

'F&B Clunch' a lovely greenish greyish white. Light but not highly reflective and restful.

MumofBoysx2 · 28/05/2018 22:51

Samanabanana where did you get that yellow paint from, it's a proper lovely bright yellow. We said our 7 year old could choose his colours for his bedroom for a feature wall and he chose yellow, but the decorator got a paler yellow than that we wanted so we need to do it again. Love that colour!

MumofBoysx2 · 28/05/2018 22:52

Ours is pretty safe white - F&B Wimbourne
