TO ask what colour your living room is?

We have a big living room which is a mix of dark flooring and red decoration - bloody awful.

We've just bought light distressed oak wooden flooring which DH is busy installing but what to do with the rest of it?

I want it light, possibly yellows and pale greens. The walls are currently standard magnolia with a red flowered feature wall (I know!).

What colour are your walls and do you have a feature wall?

Will White all round be too much?

White at top, blue on bottom. White Daydo (sp?) Rail in the middle to split it.

peachgreen · 28/05/2018 16:03

Navy. Specifically, Farrow and Ball's Hague Blue. Then bright white on the bay window wall with navy velvet curtains. Dark wood furniture and mantelpiece, black wood burner in a white alcove. One light grey tweedy sofa, one blush pink velvet. Sanded floorboards and a big soft grey rug. Lots of lamps and a big reflective copper central light fitting. It is absolutely gorgeous, I love it. We have a big sunny conservatory so I wanted the lounge to feel cosy and snug.

BlueSapp · 28/05/2018 16:06

neutral on the walls, any colour we have is through, rugs and cushions which i change around during the year.

SaveBandit · 28/05/2018 16:09

I have a wall with yellow and grey geometric wallpaper then the chimney breast is yellow with the two walls either side are light grey and the opposite wall is yellow. We have a picture rail so from there upwards is white.

Our last house was rented and every single wall was magnolia or white. Every single room in our house now is a different colour. I think it looks nice but for all I know it could clash horribly!

CloudCaptain · 28/05/2018 16:14

Egyptian cotton walls, metallic navy chimney breast, white woodwork, oak floors, navy sofas, oak/white furniture. Curtains need replacing beige and cream area rug. It's a lounge diner with north and south windows.

Thanks Llanali this was the before (BRIGHT red carpet not shown) so I think we did well Grin

Ours is sort of light mocha coloured with oak flooring and distressed oak furniture. I like it most of the time though it is a bit too Brown sometimes

SenecaFalls · 28/05/2018 16:25

Pale yellow, white trim, pine floor

tentative3 · 28/05/2018 16:27

White walls and woodwork. As Gin said, we have enough other stuff - non matching furniture, books, framed things to go on walls etc that colour on the walls isn't necessary.

VenusOfWillendorf · 28/05/2018 16:28

All White. But one 'wall' is almost entirely glass- huge window, and double balcony doors.

bluebeck · 28/05/2018 16:34

F&B Pavillion Gray up to picture rail and then white above. White skirting boards, coving and ceiling.

InMemoryOfSleep · 28/05/2018 16:35

@RavenLG that’s gorgeous - what colour/brand is the paint, if you don’t mind me asking?

pinkunicorn20 · 28/05/2018 16:46

Magnolia on 3 walls and striped on feature wall. Stripes are slightly darker cream and a beige, we have dark wooden floors. I love it

Please ignore the random clutter I'm rearranging the room!

IncyWincyMouseRat · 28/05/2018 16:52

Little cottage so very little room - pale orangey yellow walls (bit more yellow than peach I guess?) with a darker tangerine-ish orange in the fireplace (behind the log burner) and book case. Brightly coloured patchwork-y throw on the sofa, curtains are currently blue as I haven’t found any that I love to replace them with yet.

MissMarplesKnitting · 28/05/2018 16:52

Clay white with fireplace in f&b light blue. Light oak floors, greige furniture. Going for a coastal sort of vibe.

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 28/05/2018 16:54

We have one wall in Crushed Aloe and the others are Goosedown.

Spanglybangles · 28/05/2018 16:58

We have Elephants Breath on 3 walls and a beigey textured paper on the fireplace wall with a little sparkle through it (sounds iffy but is lovely honest). Floor and woodwork in light oak, burgundy brown leather sofa, light beige fabric sofa and a plum rug. Beigey curtains with cream roller blind and accessories in a mixture of beiges, greys, heather, light greens and light duck egg. Will add a photo.

It's a large west facing room with some sort of very light beige/grey on the walls which is a lot nicer than it sounds, no feature wall, maple wooden flooring.

thegreylady · 28/05/2018 17:01

Pale yellow here with a light rust carpet and mahogany furniture.

BrazzleDazzleDay · 28/05/2018 17:02

Dulux rosemary leaf, with pale grey and oak furniture.

wildbhoysmama · 28/05/2018 17:15

I love yours RavenG! If I had a more modern house I'd love that. I'm in an old house so traditional with a modern edge suits it. I've always found bDuck egg to go beautifully with darker wood. Mine is Stepping Stone by crown and Josette paper from L Ashley ( they have a sale on right now if u fancy a feature wall).

Mine's very similar to Raven's without wallpapered alcoves. Oak floor, slate hearth, white above picture rail+ceiling and a rich, flat matt teal paint on all four walls. I love it!

BeyondThePage · 28/05/2018 17:28

Ours is a 70s box of a house - so magnolia to increase the space with a coppery pink fireplace wall.

midsomermurderess · 28/05/2018 17:36

I think it's called calico. A creamy white. White woold be too stark and I don't want full-on colour.
