Parcel thrown over fence WWYD.

Have mentioned this in another thread and has been annoying me ever since.

I was out most of the day and when I got home went in the back garden to find a large parcel for me there. I have no side entrance so delivery people can not have put it there. I can only assume my NDN had taken it in and thrown it over the fence. This is six foot high so they could have placed it over my side. The parcel was marked fragile and the contents are naturally completely broken and unusable.

As I see it I have three choices of which two are not honest. Tell the company I brought the item from it arrived broken and blame them or the delivery people. I will not consider doing either of these

Or knock on my NDN’s door and demand an explanation, rip them a new one. For info I hardly know the neighbours apart from taking the occasional parcel for them which I have done gladly. They have their house up for sale so obviously couldn’t give a fuck about keeping up good relations with me.

Just feeling mighty pissed off with the waste of money.

Fault is definitely with the delivery company as if left with a neighbour there should be a note stating this.

Looking at your diagram and lack of note left maybe it was a drone delivery?

YoThePussy · 27/05/2018 00:04

Wondering if a stork left it as was semi under a use.

But you forget Tatty that some people cannot imagine anything other than their own houses.
Remember what happens when people talk about having front doors that you can’t open without using the key for example.

Ripping your neighbor a new one won’t help you with your parcel. Call the company and explain what happened. They should have insurance and should send you a new one.

my mistake it was on the roof not over it

I know Shadow, just feeling headachy with all the thunder and lightening going round. Addicted to the lightening map linked on the other thread and watching it as it gets closer and closer to me.

Simon you can open front doors without a key? What skullduggery is this?

TattyFrench · 27/05/2018 00:22

The lightening has been going on forever YoPussy. Maybe it's a cause and effect thing? The weather caused your neighbours to behave like twats? Could you stealthily nip into their garden and do a bit of midnight 'ninja planting'? Just because. In a kind of passive/aggressive but mostly passive way? I don't really know how that would help with your parcel in any way at all. It was just a thought. I think the storm has me addled.

ineedaholidaynow · 27/05/2018 00:31

It seems odd the delivery person didn't leave a note.

I usually get a note saying the parcel has been left in the porch as instructed, but as we don't have a porch I have never left that instruction Confused What they mean is they have left it by the front door.

I don't suppose it is possible delivery person got into NDN's garden and lobbed it over the fence

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 27/05/2018 00:33

Really odd that they didn’t leave you a card. Maybe it wasn’t your neighbour maybe the delivery driver asked them if he could come through their house to put it in your garden? Anyway, it’s definitely up to the retailer to sort it out, whoever ends up being the one who chucked it over, because ultimately your goods have been delivered to you damaged.

Simon you can open front doors without a key?

You really don’t want to go down that road, Tatty. Some people get very confused and defensive.
My front door can only be opened with a key and has no handle. My mother’s front door has a handle and requires locking separately.

TattyFrench · 27/05/2018 00:44

But Simon I have neither key nor handle? I simply can't comprehend how you and your mother have different door systems to me? I have a door. It has a catch. It only needs a key to enter. Not leave. Have I got a defective door? I somehow feel I may have.
My beach hut has keys. Am I confusing houses for huts? Roads for beaches? I can't tell which way is up anymore, especially with this storm.

YoThePussy · 27/05/2018 00:48

TattyFrench am so envious, want a beach hut.

I was recently off work sick and was disturbed by a delivery driver walking down the side of my house and round the back with a massive parcel. I went to see what he was doing as often get mis-delivered parcels and arrived to see him lobbing it over the six foot fence into neighbours garden. He cheerfully announced what he was doing and seemed really surprised that I didn’t want him traipsing through my garden, especially as neighbours have an unlocked side gate at the other end of their house which he could have gained access through.

SimonBridges · 27/05/2018 01:11

Ah my front door can be opened from the inside without a key, but not the outside.

TattyFrench · 27/05/2018 09:48

Simon I think we have the same front door? What are the chances of that?
YoThePussy I've always wanted one and have just recently got one. I feel very lucky.

Hoopspoops · 27/05/2018 09:48

Legally the company/business you ordered from has the responsibility to ensure the item(s) are delivered to you intact. Take it up with them. If they try to fob you on to the delivery company do not let them. They have to replace the items or refund you and then take it up with the delivery company themselves.

YoThePussy · 27/05/2018 10:02

Have just checked the tracking record. Parcel was apparently ‘left in secure outbuilding’. Interesting, no outbuilding here. My house is straight onto the pavement with no storage for parcels. Still that’s herpes for you.

Jamiefraserskilt · 27/05/2018 10:11

Get back to the vendors and explain it arrived broken. Who when what and where is irrelevant. You ordered it, you had it delivered. It was broken.

YoThePussy · 27/05/2018 10:45

I have emailed the vendors this morning so they will see when they are next open. Just said arrived damaged and is not fit for the purchase it was sold for so I would like a replacement.
