To ask why all the 'you may also be interested in' photos I see are of very light skinned humans (except Milton Keynes)?

It just felt very weird. Is there a reason or is it just me being oversensitive?

These photos are from the Mumsnet Facebook page. They usually have a diverse mix of people.

I've got five white-baby stories and the MK one. I agree that's not good enough really.

I’m guessing a lot of these are stock photos, I’m wondering whether the lack of diverse representation stems from higher up, is it as easy to find stock photos of non-white people as it is of white people? And for that matter, depictions of older people, disabled people, gay parents etc. where the focus of the image isn’t their ‘diversity’ but the subjects just happen to be ‘diverse’.

(Individual people being described as ‘diverse’ makes my teeth itch a little, to be honest, as it feels like it’s just reinforcing that white/straight/ablebodied is considered standard and everyone else is non-standard in some way. But I don’t know of a better catch-all term).

And one of those babies is still yellow and not white!!

There is a section on your screen titled THIS MAY ALSO INTEREST YOU. On my iPad it’s on the right. None of the photos have pictures of non white people

yeah ive just got Milton Keynes, Hygge, A phone of some description, ectopic pregnancy and two babies... one of the babies is in fact mixed race as far as I can tell
so YABU as far as I can see

and then ive got 'what kids would do with £100' video thing... has an Asian child on it... then 'Mumsnet insight' thing which features a black child
