Cooking for 6 and making a cottage pie.

Really cant be fucked to peel all these potatoes. Would it be unreasonable to leave skins on?

I always leave the skin on potato, parsnips or carrots for mash. I use a hand held creamer rather than a masher.

Elledouble · 25/05/2018 19:34

I scrub and chop the potatoes before cooking. The skin is quite thin, it’s not like mashing a jacket potato!

Dobbythesockelf · 25/05/2018 19:37

I hate normal mashed potato so skin on mash sounds horrible to me but obviously some people like it....

TarragonChicken · 25/05/2018 19:44

Leave the skins. It's where all the goodness is (I have no citation for this)! And I prefer the taste and it's quicker. Win win win!

We have what y'all are calling rustic mash, I put all sorts in it when DS is teething, leek, onion, cheese, pulled pork, it's lush!

My dad thinks I'm a heathen, we had this discussion yesterday, potatoes should all be peeled. Other than jersey royals which are the king of potato. They should only ever be gently scraped and boiled. He once gave me a lecture on which potatoes for which job.

PiffyGumtree · 25/05/2018 19:48

Apparently my autocorrect thinks I'm from the deep south. You all, not y'all, I'm not a yokel, sadly. (Well, my dad probably thinks I am for the skin on mash crime)

MilkyCoffeeAndSkinnySyrup · 25/05/2018 19:49

Use smash lol

OpiningGambit · 25/05/2018 19:50

I don't think I've ever peeled a potato as an adult...

BryanAdamsLeftAnkle · 25/05/2018 20:00

Yes. I'd call 101 if you presented me with that. GrinGrin

Sorry this had me chuckling

YerDaSellsAvon · 25/05/2018 20:08

Or can you put boiled unpeeled potatoes in a potato ricer and only the inside gets through and the skin stays in the ricer?
That's what I do. Then I grill the skins with bacon, cheese, spring onion and smoked paprika. They last all of 2 minutes.
