How do I look?

cjt110 · 25/05/2018 14:32

I would really like to post a photograph, showing what I feel is my enormous flabby stomach. I destest it. I wish I had done more earlier in the year to tackle it. As I am, I am 2 weeks from my holiday and feeling wholly conscious of it.

Do I really look as bad as I feel I do? What do others see?

Should I?

Wre'll definitely be walking more on holiday. I have a pretty sedentary day - desk job. Where we are staying is 30 mins from he beach. DH hates those buses you can get so likely walking to/from the beach daily.

Don’t post a photo, it won’t help really. Treat yourself to a haircut and a flattering new top/outfit and have a great time!

Lovemusic33 · 25/05/2018 15:09

Just enjoy your holiday, why worry about what others will think, the people you see on holiday don’t even know you and you will never see them again so why care?

I look rubbish in a bikini, I’m not fat as such but having kids has ruined my body (stretch marks, baby tummy) but if I was going abroad I would wear a bikini and fuck what anyone thought.

cjt110 · 25/05/2018 15:10

I need a dose of your attitude Lovemusic

Lovemusic33 · 25/05/2018 15:17

Enjoy your holiday, eat what you like, wear what you like and don’t give a toss what people think. Holidays are for unwinding so stop worrying.

MrsJayy · 25/05/2018 15:19

Really what lovemusic said oh and it is child free so you know you and your husband can siesta in peace Wink

Orangesandlemons82 · 25/05/2018 15:22

I'm in Sardinia at the moment. I didn't loose all the weight I wanted to. I have definitely felt better by having spray tan, waxing and hair done. I think a bit of a tan is definitely slimming!

AgentProvocateur · 25/05/2018 15:22

I’m 50, fat and my skin is bluey-white, and I wear a bikini. No one I know will see me (apart from DH) and older, fat foreign women wear bikinis too. And no one looks good in a one piece (well, Meghan Markle might, but no ordinary mortal does) Wink

cjt110 · 25/05/2018 15:25

Waxing? Never had that done. Does it hurt?

I'm considering a beauty "regime" before I go so I feel good

I have recently lost weight OP, i was not too unhealthy before but bigger than I used to be. I lost two stone so I should be really pleased, and I am! I fit my clothes now BUT i look god awful without clothes because I am 45. I am saggy and baggy and lumpy and bumpy, really I think I might have looked better two stone heavier without clothes. It has been an eye opener. I recall a friend saying this years ago and dismissing her at the time because I thought: so what? You're thin. Stop complaining!

I am now of the opinion that it is not your size but the confidence with which you present yourself to the world. So for my holiday I will try not to think too hard about how far from the media's view (and therefore mine I think Blush) of perfect I look. Success will be if i can be on a beach in a swimsuit without thinking about how I look. Most people are NOT perfect.

So OP (all together now!) chin up, you are not only your figure!

Orangesandlemons82 · 25/05/2018 15:38

I am a complete wimp and actually found the waxing fine. Had eye brows, top lip, bikini area and legs done. It meant that the spray tan also went on a lot better. you need it done 48 hours before spray tan so skin can settle. I had the lightest tan they did as I'm normally very pale and it looks natural. Honestly you should wear what you want on holiday, I have found on the beaches here there are people of all shapes and sizes but noone bats an eyelid at what people look like.

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 25/05/2018 15:41

No woman needs to put herself up to be scrutinised on appearance.so don’t
Take care of yourself, enjoy your holiday, think of the people who get you
Just the way you are

cjt110 · 25/05/2018 15:43

MikeWyzowski Dya know, I thought this myself. Im 31. I am 2.5 stone heavier than before my son. And what's better, to be slimmer, but have saggy skin as I see so many people now with, or a little bigger - say lose a stone but with OK skin.

Redtartanshoes · 25/05/2018 15:43

There’s a diet that reckons you can lose a stone in a week. It’s grim but if it’s a week, and if you see results it might be worth it?

James something or other. Google it. Egg in the morning fruit for lunch then meat and salad for dinner. No alcohol. Just water black tea and coffee

cjt110 · 25/05/2018 15:45

Red James Duncan... I don't eat egg, or half the stuff he puts on his "diet"

Bluntness100 · 25/05/2018 15:45

God, people won't be looking, that's not how it works, everyone is so focused on themselves. Anyone who does look won't be thinking look at her tummy, they always only look to compare themselves.

However the issue is your own mind. If you feel uncomfortable and don't think you look good, then it will impact everything negatively.

You can easily lose half a stone in the next two weeks if you want to and it makes you feel better. Plus add in some core exercises and then get a tan etc and you might feel a lot better. It really is just in your head, but that doesn't help really.

drumandthebass · 25/05/2018 15:48

16:8 or 5:2. Even just losing a couple of Ilbs in the next two weeks will make you feel better. I always find that once I'm there on holiday I don't feel anyway near as conscious of my weight or size as you see many different shapes and sizes. Also I just keep telling myself that I don't know these people and they don't know me and I will never see them again!

danTDM · 25/05/2018 15:50

Loads of water 2l a day, NO alcohol, NO carbs, no fizzy drinks low cal or not or sugary anything (inc fruit, other than berries). In two weeks you'll see a massive difference. I promise. (not sustainable though, sadly)

I did it in Jan and lost a stone in 2 weeks. Shock I normally drink a lot though! But never eat chocolate etc

I did a bit of pilates at home, not much though.

Raven88 · 25/05/2018 15:51

Your size isn't who you are. On my honeymoon last year I wore a bikini for the first time and this was at my heaviest. (125kg) I am now down to 107kg but It's doesn't change who I am as a person. Buy some good fitting clothes that make you feel good and do something for you that makes you feel at your best.

footballmum · 25/05/2018 15:58

Think of it this way-do you sit on the beach looking at all the other women thinking “her legs are fat” or “she shouldn’t be wearing that bikini with her stomach” or “god she’s really flabby”?!!! I’ll bet you don’t. And neither is anyone else. They won’t give a flying fig what you look like either!!

It’s a holiday. Go, relax, eat, drink, spend time with your DH SmileWine

cjt110 · 25/05/2018 15:59

danTDM I must say, though I have cut back, I do drink a fair bit.

How do you even manage no carbs? Everything has carbs in?

I think this has been "triggered" by losing well at Slimming world 2 weeks ago and then the following week gaining pretty much all of it back. Sent me into self destruct mode in a fair few ways - not just weight related.

Anyone able to buddy up with me perhaps to keep me on track with SW. Yes, I've fucked up the last few days since weigh in on Tues eve but I have Sat Sun Mon and Tues to pull it back.

And thank you all for your suggestions and even tolerating my MH issues.

OP posts:
Lovemusic33 · 25/05/2018 16:05

I’m useless at sw and I eat way too many carbs, the only way I lose weight is exercise and eating smaller portions.

cjt110 · 25/05/2018 16:07

I lost 3.5lbs in my first week. Stuck rigidly to plan. Didnt eat many carbs. Second week was poorly, antibiotics, comfort food such as beans on toast and pasta and gained 3lbs back :( I had stupidly excited myself that I could lose a stone in 4 weeks...

OP posts:
danTDM · 25/05/2018 16:31

cjt no carbs as in no pasta, bread, rice, potatoes, beer, wine etc. Just carbs you get from veggies. NO sugar, no fruit like bananas or oranges or grapes, high fat to fill you up and the key is masses of water, te release the puffy water you are clinging on to (if you're like me!). Full fat greek Natural yog, cheese, meat, tuna, sausages, veg etc.

You really can't drink though and it is not sustainable for me, I feel quite queer with hardly any carbs. But it is a quick fix if you are desperate! I honestly looked 10/15 years younger and a stone thinner, more came off the week after I binned the diet too. But not worth it in long run for me, in all honesty!

Although I'm sure you look great!
