To not understand how some can believe the earth is flat?

I have a friend who seems intelligent, well read and is lovely. And yet she believes the earth is flat. She shares on social media posts "explaining" this fact.
How can someone like this possibly believe this? I really don't understand.

It seems that not all (modern) humans have Neanderthal DNA - only the ones that left Africa and moved through Asia an Europe ...

I love flat earth types. There was a fella on the Jeremy vine show saying NASA gave an exclusion wall built round the North Pole to stop anyone actually reaching the North Pole. The one with all the flags is a fake. Couldn’t explain what happened at the South Pole.

Re the passport at the TT. Like the what’s in it for the round earth types; what benefit is there to the CIA/FBI etc if the is a passport? It’s not like Osama was hiding the fact the fact his boys were behind the mission.

NASA didn’t tape over the moon landings - the Doctor went back and did it, becuase he’d altered it to tell everyone to kill the Silence on sight...

I'm not sure that the Neanderthal theory is new; I'm sure that I read about it years before. I commented that I wasn't surprised because I am sure my OH is 90% Neanderthal.

Some people believe we will be economically better off after Brexit, so flat earth believers do not surprise me at all.

The latest from colleague is Walmarts being converted to FEMA concentration camps ready for worldwide martial law...apparently we are shortly going to see 'them' declaring domination...Not sure who 'they' are and I wasn't about to ask..
