"He waved his hand at me dismissively. “That’s wishful thinking. You can’t stop people from killing each other like that.”

Interesting memory piece,

Robert Kennedy was gunned down 50 years ago tomorrow.
This a moving account from the last person to shake RFK’s hand. He was a 17 year old busboy. He came to the US from Mexico as a child.
“I remember him shaking my hand and, as he let go, somebody shot him.”

Q: Would Trump ever pardon himself?
@PressSec: "Thankfully the president hasn’t done anything wrong and wouldn’t have any need for a pardon."
Q: But does he absolutely rule out pardoning himself?
WH: "Thankfully the president hasn’t done anything wrong and wouldn’t need one."

Gumpendorf · 04/06/2018 20:08

Waiting for the next iteration of that statement:

The President considers he hasn't done anything wrong, despite what Mueller is saying. He is considering granting himself a pardon if Mueller doesn't withdraw his statement. He has the absolute right to do so.
😀

If that was Huckleberry, she's shading. Smile

lionheart · 04/06/2018 20:39

I'm trying to visualise the form a self-pardon would take. An executive order? Press briefing? Statement from a lawyer? Tweet?

ohmymimi · 04/06/2018 20:40

Acosta also commented how short and sparse the briefings are now. Not surprising, being held accountable in this WH is uncomfortable, as is her constantly being on her back foot. She knows they know she's lying, she must know by now how vulnerable she is in her complicity, and have some sense that when/if the walls do close in, she'll be trapped inside. Plus, the only audience that counts to her is sitting in the Oval. And I think being called out so bluntly and publicly by Michelle Wolf actuaully did get to her; she ditched the smoky eye pretty sharply.

Today's press briefing is unusually tense and confrontational. Sanders has denied requests from multiple reporters for follow-up questions. She's also refused to explain what Trump or Giuliani is really talking about regarding pardons.

lion, The trumpnut surrogate CNN rolls out now, David Urban, said that, under the 25th amendment T. could stand down for a day, Pence stand in, pardon him, next day T. resumes office, sweet smelling, fresh as a daisy.

OP posts:
ohmymimi · 04/06/2018 20:56

Bet, in that scenario, Pence would lock himself in the Oval, with Mother, and refuse to come out.

They'd need a SWAT team and teargas, and he'd still be clinging to the Resolute deskGrin

He could spend the night in prayer and then refuse to complete the pardon (or leave).

Well Mother would. Grin

Channelling Don Jr. on this SCOTUS ruling, Joe, you ridiculous Trump enabling dick? The ruling was narrow, not the vote count. Some lawyer, you are.
