Bette, my Googling suggests it's not a statement that other media outlets are carrying, so it looks like Politico asked. Odd that there's a bit of radio silence - in the UK that would mean the media knows what's happening and have been asked not to cover it. Only Maggie Haberman seems to have retweeted it.

I'm trying not to don my much used tinhat. Grin

On a related topic, did any US peeps see The Fourth Estate this weekend? It's a 4 part documentary on Showtime showing how the NYT cover Trump in year 1. I've seen loads of good reviews and I'm desperately hoping it is streamed or shown in UK very soon.

cozietoesie · 29/05/2018 21:09

To be POTUS or FLOTUS is Huge. Massive in American eyes. With the exception of the US posters, I doubt whether UK posters can comprehend it, being used to politicians who ........come and go in the way that they do.

cozietoesie · 29/05/2018 21:14

Sorry. That should have read 'With the ...........I doubt whether we can comprehend it.'

@MichaelAvenatti

"See below. 1) the WSJ had the story in the closing days of the campaign but sat on it and 2) Mr. Davidson lied to them and conspired with Mr. Cohen in 2016. This is why we have demanded to see all of Davidson's docs for mos and will sue if need be. #Basta

Avenatti is publishing an e-mail exchange between a WSJ journalist and Keith Davidson (Stormy D's previous lawyer) dated before the 2016 election looking for info on story that Davidson was representing women paid off by Trump. Davidson denies it and forwards the exchange to Cohen.

Gumpendorf · 29/05/2018 21:37

Probably in response to

@WSJ

Michael Avenatti, Stormy Daniels’s current attorney, has been among the most vocal critics of Michael Cohen's hush-money deal, but prosecutors have come to believe he is stringing them along on.wsj.com/2H3iFEy

Worrying:

@NRDC
The lead levels in Newark, New Jersey’s drinking water are among the highest recorded by a large water system in the U.S. in recent years. @NRDC was able to obtain a map disclosing the locations of areas most impacted. The data is concerning. on.nrdc.org/2IGRBAB

washingtonpress.com/2018/05/29/stormy-daniels-lawyer-just-blew-the-lid-off-the-medias-coverup-of-trumps-hush-payments/

The story of Donald Trump and Michael Cohen’s illegal porn star hush money deal was just confirmed as a major election issue in the hands of the Wall Street Journal just five days before Americans cast their ballots for President.
Stormy Daniels’ lawyer Michael Avenatti just released a bombshell set of emails from her former attorney Keith Davidson, which confirms that the Wall Street Journal had the story of the hush money payoff scheme.

.....
The timing of Cohen’s payoffs is key to determining if they’re unreported election expenses, and Trump’s recent acknowledgment of a campaign debt owed to his personal attorney led to a criminal referral from the Office of Government Ethics.
But the constant stream of emails to Michael Cohen from Keith Davidson about election reporting, right after their hush money deal, is threatening to sink his chances in his civil case in California, and simultaneously aiding the FBI’s criminal case against him and his client, Donald J. Trump.

cozietoesie · 29/05/2018 21:46

Ouch. Those lead levels.............

cozietoesie · 29/05/2018 21:48

I don't care if Avenatti is (arguably) veering 'off-Clifford'. Smile

Another less-than-friendly article from North Korea.

Minju Joson Denounces U.S. Ambition for Military Confrontation against DPRK

Pyongyang, May 29 (KCNA) -- The U.S. is going to stage Ulji Freedom Guardian joint military exercise in August again despite the efforts of the DPRK for peace and détente on the Korean peninsula. This tells that the U.S. does not hope for détente and peace on the peninsula but persistently seeks its ambition for military confrontation against the DPRK. Minju Joson Tuesday says this in a commentary.

It goes on:

From the outset of the year we have set out epochal proposals for improvement of the north-south relations and détente on the Korean peninsula and have taken proactive steps one after another, as we value the desire of all Koreans for détente on the peninsula without war and for aspiration of humankind to peace.

However, the U.S. absurdly claims that it presents peace to someone, describing our peace-loving efforts as the "result of sanctions and pressure".

The U.S. behavior would work on a weak one, but it will never work on the DPRK which proudly appeared as a world strategic state.

We will never beg for peace from the U.S. -0-

cozietoesie · 30/05/2018 01:13

I reckon that that's quite muted, actually.

cozietoesie · 30/05/2018 01:15

Why do I get the impression that KJU is quite enjoying this?

I have quite a soft spot for the North Korean style after they delighted us all with dotard.
