To think this is SO UNFAIR?

I wanted some pink trainers from New Look so my mum ordered (and paid for) them. She ordered herself some in the same size/style but green.

They turned up and mine don’t fit, I’m now a bigger size than her. So she sent those back and ordered me the next size up. They haven’t arrived yet even though I keep asking her when they are coming and doing my best uuuuuuurgh noise when she says she doesn’t know.

Anyway, the worst thing is that she has been wearing hers. Right in my face. She can’t see what she’s done wrong even though it’s obvious that she shouldn’t wear them until I’ve got mine (and then never at the same time) because it’s just not fair.

AIBU? I’ve stormed upstairs to my room and slammed the door and she still won’t apologise.

I wonder if the dichotomy here is between parents of horrible teens and the rest of the blessed world. 😇

It does make me laugh when I listen to my kids tantrums and realise how my parents felt when I used to act the same way to them.

Storminateapot · 23/05/2018 17:20

Well I think it's funny but I'm an awful mother too and I have the sheer brass neckery to buy myself real converse when I feel like it when my kids have to earn them or have them for a birthday etc.

ThinkOfAWittyNameLater · 23/05/2018 17:21

Nope @TokenBritPoshOfCourse that's not the cause.

I very nearly laughed aloud at @Trumpton - that's a bloody genius comeback and I shall be using it when the time comes (~4yrs time). GrinConfused

FullOfJellyBeans · 23/05/2018 17:29

I think this is hilarious.

GahWhatever · 23/05/2018 17:29

YANBU.
God, she'll be asking about homework or providing clean laundry and EXPECTING YOU TO PUT IT AWAY next!
Bitch.

scampimom · 23/05/2018 17:35

OH MY GOD why is your mum so stupid and selfish? Going around in shoes FFS?? And WHY doesn't she know when the shoes she ordered, paid for, re-wrapped and posted are coming back?? LAZY.

Whatshallidonowpeople · 23/05/2018 17:37

And if your feet are still growing you should have then properly measured and buy decent shoes, not new look crap

ALemonyPea · 23/05/2018 17:38

Dear god! You’re not teenaging very well are you? Get your mum to take you to New Look RIGHT NOW. If she loved she would.

(This thread will only resonate hilarity if you actually have a teenager or managed to survive your child’s teenage years)

mrsjoyfulprizeforraffiawork · 23/05/2018 17:41

You also get plus points from me (naturally) for referencing Molesworth

supersop60 · 23/05/2018 17:42

YANBU - what is your mum THINKING - buying the same trainers as you. I wouldn't speak to her ever again, she must be SO embarrassing.

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 23/05/2018 17:47

Omg, it's a national emergency.

Dwellerfromunderthesink · 23/05/2018 17:49

Yes she’s totally ruined your life I agree and is sooooooo embarrassing. She is NOT your mother. I’d leave home if I were you. And make sure you slam the door REALLY hard so any ornaments and pictures fall to the ground and hopefully shatter. She like SO deserves it. None of your other friends parents would do what she’s done.

Emmageddon · 23/05/2018 17:53

Your mum, like, totally sucks. She just doesn't understand and that's because she's OLD. Go drink cider in the park and be brought home by the community bobby. That'll teach her!

apostropheuse · 23/05/2018 17:53

You were probably swapped at birth. She can't possibly be your mother.

squeaver · 23/05/2018 17:54

Perhaps there should be lighthearted in the thread title?

This is the saddest fucking thing I've ever read on Mumsnet.

MissionItsPossible · 23/05/2018 17:56

I didn’t know Kevin was a girls name!

Yorkshirebetty · 23/05/2018 17:57

Listen love, if you actually want to wear pink trainers from New Look like some middle aged saddo you deserve to be reported to the style police. Use her card, go online and ffs get a decent pair of Nikes.

youarenotkiddingme · 23/05/2018 18:30

Yep - you definitely need to be the parent of a hard done by teen to get this!

I'm a said parent to a 13yo autistic ds.

I know exactly how UNFAIR life can be and how the WHOLE world is against teens. Wink

Trumpton that is ace Grin

ALemonyPea · 23/05/2018 18:38

I think having to reference a thread as lighthearted in the title actually kills off some of the lightheartedness of it.

Why is everyone so serious on here now?

YearOfYouRemember · 23/05/2018 18:44

More like toddler behaviour..

ForalltheSaints · 23/05/2018 18:47

Is this the youngest OP ever on MN? From one of the few places left that still has a New Look?

Trumpton- thank you for your response!

Hoppinggreen · 23/05/2018 18:51

No one else Mum would do it, cos they’re like normal and yours is just soooooo not

Hygge · 23/05/2018 18:54

You/r mum wearing green trainers to your pink ones is fine.

Try being sixteen and getting invited to a barbecue by someone you'd been on a few dates with and turning up at his parents house to find HIM wearing the same purple and pink flowery hawaiian shirt as HIS MUM.

They both bought them on holiday. At the same time. On purpose to match. Then said they'd both bought the same kimono style dressing gown as well.

Shock
RebootYourEngine · 23/05/2018 18:57

I can sympathise. My ds is a horrible teen right now. Every other day i am counting down the days until he is an adult and i dont have to deal with teenage tantrums anymore. If he has an adult tantrum he will be asked to leave.
