To want a rucksack and not feel like a student?

Is there such a thing? I really want a new rucksack but can’t find anything either remotely not school/student like or hideously expensive (I’m looking at you Mulberry)

Can anyone shed any light on a good one? My poor knackered hip can’t take a shoulder bag anymore.

I have a Cath Kidston fold up one and I use it all the time.

What’s it for OP? Nappy bag? Laptop? Replacement handbag?

NurseryFightClub · 21/05/2018 16:29

I have a cath kitson one, dd used to have a coordinating one too Grin

BellaHadidHere · 21/05/2018 16:32

I have a Cath Kidston folding one too. It's really annoying as it has no structural integrity and it's not waterproof.

I have a lovely suede/nubuck one from All Saints, look out for their sales mine was 1/2 price but they often have 20% off events

I love the look of [https://bearabeara.co.uk/product/mochata-leather-backpack-dark-green/ this one] but it's not cheap. £145 for a beara beara one..

Rainatnight · 21/05/2018 16:40

I just bought a lovely smart black leather one from Cos. It's actually a men's one.

ChanandlerBongsNeighbour · 21/05/2018 16:40

I just bought this, real leather, off eBay, £26.99. Love it!

I have a pretty Cath Kidston one a bit like this, it's a waxy material so really durable, i use it as a changing bag and it fits loads in

I’ve looked, though and digested all the comments.

Perhaps comfort over style is the way to go. Thinking of my poor battered body.

I need it as a change bag, day to day going out bag and long day out bag. Basically a transit van.

Love that! Don't suppose you'd mind sharing the link please?

Bratsandtwats · 21/05/2018 20:28

I have one from Oasis it makes it so much easier than using my handbag

Bratsandtwats · 21/05/2018 20:29

They've been around for 40 years.

WeAreGerbil · 21/05/2018 20:31

I have an Orla Kiely one, which I like but it's fairly small. When I first looked for one about four years ago there really wasn't anything other than backpacker, student, sports or business man so I feel your pain. There do seem to be a few more now than there were though.

I like this one, it's multipurpose, got loads of pockets. Ut it's a bit £££.

jensner · 21/05/2018 20:45

Have you seen the Sophia and Matt backpacks?

www.sophiaandmatt.co.uk/backpacks/

I don't have one but have a crossbody bag of theirs. Not cheap but not Mulberry money.

Everexpandingwaistline · 21/05/2018 20:53

Post this thread,in style and beauty and you'll get loads of suggestions.

I'm debating this one at the moment miatui.com/collections/backpack/products/sydney-backpack-multiple-colours?variant=6999780720704

LongtimeLurker29 · 21/05/2018 20:56

Fiorelli do some nice backpacks and are not too expensive. I have a pretty navy and pink one Smile

Hiphopster · 21/05/2018 20:58

I wanted something solid but cheap and found a Samsonite one on eBay for £10. Used but never been used. It’s a dark blue cotton with yellow contrast (I’m never out in the rain with it)

Darknessinthevalley · 21/05/2018 20:58

I love rains as a durable waterproof option. They do pretty minimalist designs too, I like the big open pit approach they take to backpacks. No silly dividers or pockets.

Maraschino · 21/05/2018 21:01

I have this one (bought as a change bag) and I love it! Not studenty at all www.tibaandmarl.com/shop/elwood-black

I'm 55 and use a Lowe Alpine ruckasck for work every day, I'm not sure I look like a student.....
